I checked my phone anxiously, there were no messages which i hadn't expected but it gave me something to do. I didn't really wanna be recognised here to avoid annoying questions but it wouldn't be a big deal if people did. The people who lived here knew my mother and me, it was the kind of village that knew and recognised all of their villagers and they'd assume I was visiting my mum's house, nothing wrong with that. I was waiting in the line with the groceries; food for dinner, food for breakfast, snacks, alcohol and cigarettes for Toya.

What bothered me about this entire situation though was that I couldn't shake of the feeling that someone was watching, I turned my head around to scan the people in the shop. In the queue in front of me were two elderly woman and the cashier, there was no one behind me in line . In the aisle closest to us was a young couple with two kids doing their shopping, one kid was bouncing up and down excitedly, while the other was wandering off slightly from his parents. I shook my head slightly and turned my head back in front of me, i was just getting a little paranoid.

Finally I'd paid and walked with the bags out of the store. Soft footsteps were coming from the alleyway I passed, a normal person probably wouldn't have heard it but i was trained to hear these things. I snapped my head around and passed both bags to one hand. A hooded figure appeared.

"A chicken all alone, huh?" Shigaraki said as he raised his head, a smirk on his face, though his eyes were like fire. I realised he was angry. There was a loud bang behind me and suddenly the shop which i was just in was on fire, people were screaming and scattering away from the building. I took a step towards the grocery store but Shigaraki grabbed my arm in a swift movement. To say that hurt was an understatement, the spot where his hand was touching felt like it was on fire, the skin was slowly grumbling to dust revealing the red underskin.

"Fuck!" i pulled my arm away with so much force i stumbler. I glanced at the supermarket. The cashier and what i presumed was the manager where both calling out, the parents and their kid were out of the building, i took a breath before i realised the parents had two kids. Both of the parents were yelling and panicking, the mother being held back by her husband while the younger child was crying.

"Eyes on me little bird." Shigaraki said before he swung at me. I dodged, though barely, and landed a kick in his side. With the grocery bags still in my hand i dashed towards the supermarket again. I landed in front of the parents and dropped the grocery bags in one move. I spread my wings while i fumbled into my pocket for my yellow visors.

"I'll get your kid," i said and the father looked at me eyes wide in disbelieve, "Hawks." He said.

"You're a police officer," i said as i noticed a badge pinned to his belt.

"There's still a villain on the lose, probably two or more as he was talking with me when the supermarket caught fire. I'll give you permission to use your quirk only if he tries something. Keep people away from the building."

I ran right into the burning building, i could have send a feather in but the chance that it would burn to crisps before reaching the child was high. I quickly shedded a few feathers to keep guard near the mother and child who were clutching at each other, I would sense if there were people heading their way.

I heard soft sobs and i followed the sound of it. I reached the kid, he was sitting on the floor, his arms around his knees as he pulled them to his chest. He was looking around at the fire spreading around him but not even touching him, there was a shield around the kid shielding him from any harm the fire might cause, his quirk I assumed.

"Hey Kiddo, I'm here to get you out of here."

I tried to reach through the shield which i obviously couldn't. The kid looked up at me with big eyes, which followed me as i crouched down in front of him. The building groaned slightly, we didn't have long before the store would collapse.
