Part 2 D

It was blue. No, not quite. Maybe a turquoise, or a sea foam green. No, that still wasn't right. It was the colour of his eyes. An after midnight blue at the time, but later they would be a glowing cyan.

Not the dress, although it gave that illusion. But, Terence. I couldn't quite grasp what I thought of him yet. Other than the fact that he was a complete demon, of course. But, he was willing to pay for a dress. Plus, he told me that I could pick whichever one that I wanted.

I had my heart set on this one. The material was soft and silky, yet not made of silk. It was impossible not to run my hands over it, taking in the feeling. It was a strapless dress, a style that I'd never worn before. A style that seemed uncomfortable, but I was willing to try it. The length of the dress was to the floor, a variety of blue hues drifting all across it.

The need to try it on was inevitable. Terence was looking for suits, so I was alone. I had to call over an employee and ask about the dressing rooms all by myself, despite the rush of anxiety that came over me every time I talked to people who work in clothing stores.

"Um, excuse me?" My voice quivered when I got the attention of the first employee I saw. She turned to look at me, a kind smile on her face. She was young, had to be in her 20s. The name on her uniform said, Abi. Abi's face lit up when she realized that I had the dress.

"I see you've picked out a dress. A very beautiful one at that! Would you like to try it on?" She had asked. The excitement in her voice took my anxiety away. At that very moment, I realized that our futures would collide again.

Abi led me to where the change rooms were. I didn't realize at first, but those were the type of change rooms where you would be served beverages and tiny pastries while shopping with your bridesmaids. I didn't have any bridesmaids with me. Or any friends for that matter. But Abi was there, and she became the reason for my return.

After carefully slipping the dress off the hanger and unzipping the zipper, I took a deep breath. It was the moment of truth.

The fabric felt feathery against my skin, I closed my eyes to bask in the feeling. When I opened them, the first thing I saw was the rain glass-looking skirt of the dress. It gave the illusion of a taller body, with longer legs.

"Is everything okay in there?" Abi's voice drifted into the change room.

Instead of responding, I opened the door, and asked her to help zip up the dress. Her eyes widened and the first thing she did was whistle for me.

Oh yes, our friendship lasted a long time.

Okay, I'm sorry I haven't updated in like 15 hundred years. I have no excuse and I feel a lot of shame. If you think I deserve it, vote? A comment might be nice too.

Any who! Hope y'all enjoyed it.
