I said Allah Hafiz to Mom and Dad and started early for school. I was a bit nervous because this was the first time I was gonna drive alone. As there would always be Dad or Mahad with me who would guide when I use to learn driving with them.
"Liyana Abdullah put your seatbelt on, insert the key and Bismillah," I said to myself and drove out from the gates of the house. The roar of my car's engine had truly made me happy.
I switched on the music player in the car and played my favourite song from one direction, Night changes.
Going out tonight
Changes into something red
Her mother doesn't like that kind of dress
Everything she never had she's showing offDriving too fast
Moon is breaking through her hair
She said it was something that she won't forget
Having no regrets is all that she really wantsWe're only getting older baby
And I've been thinking about it lately
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you've ever dreamed of
Disappearing when you wake up
But there's nothing to be afraid of
Even when the night changes
It will never change me and you...I decided to drive slowly and enjoy the beautiful weather, sometimes you need to experience that cool breeze under an open sky, which strikes against your face and tell what you lack in the world.
I decided to enjoy this moment so, I parked the car near a garden which was green and colourful with flowers blooming even in this cold weather. I stepped into the grass and plopped down on it. I really felt calm and relaxed. I closed my eyes and turned my face to the wind. I felt it sweep along my skin in an invisible ocean of exultation.
Suddenly, I knew I was alive. I then remembered my Chacha's (dad's brother)words, when he used to take me to his favourite spot at the top of the city on a big mountain and used to say that, " Liya, always find time for the things that make you feel happy to be alive," and today I felt that. I miss my Chacha. I wish he was alive. I then opened my eyes and made dua for his Magfirah.
There was a milkshake shop beside the garden and suddenly my stomach started growling even though I was full with my breakfast. I then decided to buy a milkshake and drive straight to school as it was already 7:30 am.
I went into the shop and ordered a chocolate milkshake with extra chocolate syrup. Yum.
I took the order and headed towards my car.I saw somebody standing near my car and touching it in a delightful manner.
"Excuse me?!" I said while going towards the driver's seat.
"Oh sorry, I just love this mode-," the person lifted his face.
"You?! What are you doing here?" I asked in shock.
"Hey, Salaam, I was going to the school and I saw this beauty," Mr Idiot said and his eyes back on the car. His eyes were glimmering with happiness. I didn't recognise him because he was wearing a beanie. I have always seen him without his beanie.
