Kaitlyn's POV
"Kaitlyn please don't be ridiculous." My dad sighs following me into my room like he's done all around the house. "I'm not being ridiculous I'm being reasonable." I shoot back calmly lying Maddie down in her crib before I turn to focus on him.
"No, being reasonable would be accepting Bennington's offer." He scowls pinching his temple, something he usually only does when he's talking to Peter. "I didn't apply, and I have a family to think about. I can't just make decisions for myself anymore."
I start picking things up around the already tidy room trying to busy myself, and he continues just as stubborn as I am. "One, you still got into this very nice college, and two I think Peter would agree with me that this is something you have to do."
"Why are you so obsessed with this? Peter's not going to college." I scoff plopping down on the bed his clothes that we're folded on our falling to the ground. "Peter doesn't need to, but Jeans telepathically taking classes, and even Scott is attending the local college for a few semesters."
"Well it's not like I want to do anything, going would just be a waste of time and money." I sigh forcing myself to act like I don't care, but that's probably pointless he's a telepath after all. "Stop lying Kaitlyn we both know literature has been a passion of yours, and you're dreadfully talented when it comes to writing."
He's right, I was the little girl growing up that had ten journals in one year, and throughout junior high and highschool it was the only career I considered a possibility. However that was before Maddie, and I still have the rest of my life to go back to school and pursue writing but right now isn't the right time.
"Please dear, for once in your life be selfish. I promise the rest of us will figure out how to survive without you for a few hours a day." A grumble grows in my stomach as I walk past him so I can hang on the edge of Maddie's crib watching her sleep. I hope life is easy for her, even though I know it won't be.
"If I say I'll think about it will you leave me alone?" I ask looking down when I feel him roll up beside me. He takes my hand in his giving me that genuine father smile that I still have trouble reading.
"I'll leave you alone for forty-eight hours."

Kaitlyn's POV
"You guys can't be on his side!" The worn softball comes flying towards me, and I whack it as hard as I can feeling really satisfied when it soars to the outfield. "All we're saying Kaitlyn is you're smart." Ororo shouts jumping on first base waiting for the ball but it pops over her head into right field.
"So I don't have to prove I'm smart by going to college." I practically seethe jumping over Kurt who's basically cowering on second base. "That's not what we're trying to say..." Scott's voice fades as run past him at third, and I'm halfway to home when the ball soars past me into Jeans awaiting glove.
Clearly she cheated and used her telekinesis.
"Sucks to come so close to success right?" She asks playfully tossing the ball, that's actually falling apart now, in the air. "What's with telepaths and making everything a learning experience?" I mumble tossing the bat aside to Peter who looks kind of scared.
We've already talked about it, and I've already yelled, apologized and cried to him because this is stressing me out so much.
"All I'm saying is what if one day you're that close to achieving your dream, but not going to college ultimately holds you back in the end?" Obviously I can just go back, what does no one get about this?
