Chapter 21: Bipolar Son of a Gun

“FROSSTTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!” Man that woman has a set of lungs on her. “What Ally?” I muffle into my pillow, tempted to throw it at her. “You’re famous!”

“WHAT!?!?!” I exclaim, shooting out of the bed, hair and sheets flying everywhere. Ally squeals and jumps back, landing on her ass quite ungracefully. “Ouch,” she mumbles, standing up and rubbing her butt in circular motions. So it’s been a couple weeks now, a couple quiet weeks. For some strange reason, Steve has been distant. After that night, he’s been purposely avoiding me and I don’t even know why. Why are men so freaking hard to read? It’s not like I care though, me and him? Pfft, that’s a funny one Lilly.

“I said….. YOU’RE FAMOUS DUMBASS!” she yells in my face, my train of thought crashing and saliva flying, my nose scrunching because of it but I don’t flinch, I’m an assassin for Pete’s sake. “Is this some kind of practical joke? Did Johnny put you up to this? Or is it April fool’s day? Congratulations if it is, very well played. Now if you don’t mind I think I need a shot of whiskey to prevent further heart attacks—”

“For crying out loud Lilly I’m serious! Nicky announced it to SHIELD, some idiot leaked the news online as well as most of the freaking encounters we’ve had with the Avengers AND our history with HYDRA just so he could get a few extra bucks and now….. YOU’RE FAMOUS! Well, WE’RE FAMOUS! I wonder if Zac Efron will notice me now? Maybe he’ll reply to my emails!” squealing like a young fangirl, she bounces around the room, arms flailing about like a fish out of water.

“Whoa whoa take a breather there Ally. Remember, breathing is important, necessary for the human body to—”

“Nothing smart you say is going to ruin this moment! Did you know there are already magazines published about us? What they think we look like? Who people ship us with?” Now THAT got my attention. “Wha-What?” I stammer, leaning forward more with my eyebrows raised. “Sure! I’m being shipped with Bruce and Tony while people are shipping you, Johnny, Tony and Steve! There are even some Furian shippers out there. As in Fury and you which is just beyond cringe worthy,” Shuddering in sync with one another, I ask “Who do they ship me with the most?”

“Steve of course silly billy! You know you two are perfect with each other,” I shudder again, shaking my head vigorously and replying “Nope nope and nope again! It just ain’t happening!”

“Too late, they’re already calling you Captain Nightshade. Once there’s a ship name, its official,” I cringe in return, my eyes gluing shut. I wonder if I just shut my eyes, it will all go away. “What about Johnny and Tony?” I ask, mentally debating if I want to know the answer to that or not. Thankfully, Ally decides for me. “Night Torch and Iron Night but there’s also Iron Shade but Iron Night has a better ring to it. I’m still all for Captain Nightshade though, personally,”

“And people do all this over night?” I ask, bewildered at the fact how fast word travels through media. Shaking her head incredibly fast – and almost giving me a headache – she replies “Nope, it’s been going on for a week and a half now. Nicky has been trying to hide it from us, scared of your reaction and now I see why. Probably should have not let that slip but I’m so freaking EXCITED! Like, we’re famous Lilly! FAMOUS! There’s fanfic on us too! I’ve been reading it all night!”

This planet is getting weirder and weirder. Fanfic? On me? Insignificant and sarcastic me? “What about?” I ask, swinging my legs around so I sit cross legged on my bed. Finally she stops moving, resting on the very edge of my bed which means she’s going to spring up at some stage as she explains. “You kicking HYDRA’s ass and us with our ship! Like, I read this one with you and Steve and I just have to read you this, one minute please,” I don’t even get a chance to open my mouth because by the time I do, she’s gone.
