Chapter 5

Taehyung had barely left the house since what happened a few days ago, too ashamed to accidentally bump into Yugyeom. He didn't know how he would ever face the other omega after years of seeing him and teasing him about Jungkook. He sighed for the millionth time.

"I've been asking Taehyung again and again when they'll mate but he never answers me. Did Jungkook tell you anything?" Taehyung's mother asked.

Both Jungkook and Taehyung's mother were ecstatic with the news of their mating and his mother asked him everyday when they will mate already. But he didn't want to talk about it and he didn't even know. Jungkook came over a few times but they never talked about when they would actually do it. Preferably never.

"He hasn't told me anything either. I just want it to happen already." Jungkook's mother said while helping around in the kitchen. It seemed as if this was the only topic left to talk about for their mothers lately.

"Maybe he's just waiting to let both of them adjust to it." Mrs. Jeon said, making his mother nod.

"Such a thoughtful boy." She answered. Taehyung's mother had always adored Jungkook but she did it even more now, since he offered to mate with Taehyung. She acted as if he was Taehyung's saviour. He wanted to roll his eyes.

Whenever Jungkook came to see him, he always shut himself in his room or barely talked to him. He was angry and he knew that Jungkook didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of his mood but he was. Taehyung should be grateful but he couldn't bring himself to be just yet. Stupid Jeon Jungkook. Taehyung should have never let the alpha follow him around everywhere when they were younger.

"Taehyung, what's wrong?" He felt someone sit beside him on the couch and place their hand on top of his. It was Mrs. Jeon. She was looking at him softly as she gently grasped his hand in hers.

Taehyung looked at their hands and tried to think of something to say to her but he could feel like his eyes start to water.

"Tell Jungkook not to do this." He said, making eye contact. Her face fell at this. "Why is he ruining his own life for me? Shouldn't you be discouraging him?"

"Why should I, Taehyung? He will be mating with such an amazing omega who I know will make him happy. What else do I need?" She replied and the answer made Taehyung more frustrated.

"I can't make him happy like Yugyeom! He'll always wish he didn't do this in the future." Taehyung said, trying to make her understand. He didn't know why no one was understanding him.

"Don't you think it's too early to tell, Tae? You should start this new chapter in your life with positive thoughts." She patted his head and got up to go back to the kitchen leaving Taehyung more upset than before.

There was nothing positive about this whole situation.

His friends seemed to think otherwise though. They came to see him and couldn't stop telling him how lucky he was that an alpha had actually offered to mate with him after everything. They said he was lucky he didn't have to live with Hyungsik without a bond. Taehyung felt that he would have been happy too if it was any other alpha instead of Jungkook.

But Jungkook was younger than him, they added distastefully. How would he be able to take care of Taehyung? Taehyung didn't get it either. He was the one who always took care of the younger alpha.

He wished he could go back in time. He would harden his heart and wouldn't give in to Jungkook's tears or the words he said. He would never agree.

The door opened then and he saw as Jungkook entered, surprised to see his mother already there.
