There was moment, where everything stopped.

Remus, with his back to his lover, was in the exact same spot that Deceit was not even that long ago.

"Please, don't do it!" He shouted, desperation evident in his voice as tears gather in his eyes.

Unexpectedly, Remus turned, and looked back, tears pouring down his face; he was breathing heavily.

"There's no stopping me," he said, a pitiful laugh escaping his lips.

"You won't stop me. I-I can't take it anymore, Dee. It hurts, every time I see you. Don't you get it? You're hurting me, and you don't even know it!"

A tear slipped down Deceit's cheek as he listened to the heart-breaking words leaving his lover's mouth.

"I do know it, Remus. I remember, I remember everything."

Remus scoffed and turned back, so that he was facing the cliff walls. Then, he took a step closer to the edge, letting out a sob in the process.

"Don't even bother trying to lie to me, Dee."

"No, I-"

"Just, don't."

A couple of shaky breathes later, and Deceit spoke out.

"How can I prove it?"

Remus took a step back and turned around again, saying something that Deceit didn't expect.

"Sing to me."

The snake like side thought for a moment, then, he smiled softly. He knew the perfect song: Remus' song.

"Most days, I wake up with a pit in my chest
There are thoughts that I can't put to rest
There's a worry that I can't place,"

Deceit took a step forward.

"Most nights, I am restless and quiet won't come
So I lay there and wait for the sun
There's a trouble that won't show its face,"

He took another step forward, bigger this time.

"You came out of nowhere

And you cut through all the noise

I make sense to the madness

When I listen to your voice,"

Again, a step closer, now only a few feet away.

"Darling, only you can ease my mind

Help me leave these lonely thoughts behind
When they pull me under, and I can feel my sanity start to unwind

Darling, only you can ease my mind,"

Remus sniffled, and this time, took a step back from the edge, then, turned to face his lover.

"I'll admit, for a moment I felt so afraid
Just to show you the mess that I made
There are pieces I usually hide,"

Deceit, another step closer.

"But when you collect me with your steady hand
With a language that I understand
I feel put back together inside,"

He now stood in front of Remus.

"You came out of nowhere

And you cut through all the noise

I make sense of the madness

When I listen to your voice,"

Deceit grabbed Remus' hands.

"Oh Darling, only you can ease my mind

Oh help me leave these lonely thoughts behind
When they pull me under, and I can feel my sanity start to unwind

Darling, only you can ease my mind,"

Deceit moved forward, releasing his grip on Remus' hands as he wrapped his arms around his lover's waist.

"Darling, only you can ease my mind

Help me leave these lonely thoughts behind

When they pull me under, and I can feel my sanity start to unwind,"

Remus sniffled and wiped his face with his sleeve, before he placed his arms around Deceit's neck.

"Darling, only you can ease my mind..."

They leant in, and shared a long, overdue kiss, just the two of them.

Alone, like they should be.
