Silver awakened with a loud yelp, from his dreamless slumber, in great pain. His chest felt as if someone had held hot coal against it with no mercy. Gently rubbing the front of his chest in confusion, very few memories came to mind. He remembered going to his office.... coming home.... leaving back out... falling asleep.... someone waking him up.... and a black figure. The sudden movement of the door scared him so much that he screamed.
"Silver, are you alright?" Came a rather worried voice throw the door. He looked around, finally realizing that he was in his bedroom. He didn't remember coming home after going to the park... so, how did he get here? The young hedgehog was pulled from his thoughts by pounding on his door.
"Silver?", Called a male voice this time, "Why is the door locked? What are you doing?"
"Nothing! I just woke up."
"We heard you screaming, are you alright in there?"
"I'm fine.... Just had a bad dream."
"Okay, If you are sure that you are alright, we will be heading off to work now."
"Okay, Father, I'll see you guys later."
"Come on Agnes."
"Are you sure we shouldn't check on him more.... thoroughly?" She whispered lowly but Silver strained his ear to hear them.
"He said that he was fine, dear."
"Silver always says that!" The voice of his mother snapped back.
"Lower your tone, Agnes, he doesn't need to hear us." His father replied softly.
"Don't try and change the subject, Hun."
"Alright, what do you want me to do?"
"I want you to go in there and talk to him. See what's wrong."
"He probably just needs some time to himself." His father replied before footsteps moving away from his door can be heard.
"Don't walk away from me, Sha-" His mother started but was cut off by what came to Silver as a mumble. Sounded like he said 'I believe I just did'. The clicking of heels fallowed after the footsteps and Silver quickly got out of the bed, all pain forgotten. He tip-toed to his bedroom door and slowly unlocked it. The door opened without a sound and he can kinda hear his parents better.
"Now you know that I'm not good at all when it comes to the emotional stuff... that's why you are here."
"I know but I always go to him. He needs to know that he can depend on his father too."
"He knows that he can." Silver crept over to the wall next to the banister, not daring to look over in fear of being caught, and lifted his ears to hear them clearly.
"True, but he still needs to be shown that he can. We don't know how he feels... For all we know he could be lying to us about being okay."
"I am not doing this today. I have a lot of work to do and little time to do it, so please stop wasting my time with this Agnes."
"Thinking about our son is a waste of time to you?"
"........That's not what I'm saying."
"So, working is more important then seeing that your only son is alright?" His father sighed heavily.
"I am not saying that my work is more important than my son, its just that I have alot to do today."
