20. Promises II

Ragu Pov

I have always acted strong in front of my mom and Mathi, so they won't break down. But Vaishu makes me weak and I was not afraid to show my weaker side to her. She is the first person I have ever shared everything with.

When you are at the peak of your emotions, every positive word you hear from your loved one makes you more attached to them.

When I was sharing my family situation with Vaishu, I was just expecting some soothing words from her. But she gave me a promise.

The words are just engraved in my heart. She said " I can't promise to get back the moments you wished your father to be beside you but I can promise that I will be there with you to encourage and support you. No one can replace a father but my love will make you forget the pain. I promise".

She said that with a baby voice and I just melted into the cuteness. People will always say that when you see a baby you will forget your worries and it's true and this cute baby girl is my cure.

I also know that the words she said are not due to the emotional state we were in but she really meant every single word.

3rd Pov

Exactly when Ragu and Vaishu are promising, there were other 2 girls who had their own promise.

Aki was frustrated that her department was not allowing her to attend the state level selection camp which was our first goal.

She got her practical classes schedule and it is overlapping with our camp dates. The first person she thought to speak with was Mathi and she called her to vent out the frustration.

Mathi was her soothing melody and they are like each other's strength as well as the weakness.

Mathi after listening to Aki's words said in a determined voice, we 4 will go to the camp if you are coming or no one is going from our college.

We were telling this to our officer and he will talk to your HOD. Whatever happens we are facing it together.

Aki's frustation went down after hearing this and as promised they got permission from Aki's department and they 4 went to the camp.

After two days of camp Mathi got a ligament tear and she was not able to continue the selection. Aki was the determined one to go for the camp but she got rejected in the first round itself.

It was really a disappointment that no one made to the next level for the college and other NCC members. But these 4 are the culprits.

Aki after learning about Mathis injury,  not even had 1% interest to continue the camp.

Once Aki got rejected, their lazy ass Vaishu didn't have the mind to continue so she also got rejected. Ramya was left behind but she knows the drill. United we chased the dream and United we gave up. Tough giving up is not an act to be appreciated but they got some inner peace by doing this for each other.

It's an unsaid promise they made among themselves and they are never gonna break that promise in their lifetime.

They enjoyed the remaining days in camp completely expect that Mathi was injured. Aki was always around Mathi to help her with anything. Their bond grew stronger. Aki was not only there to support her while walking but they both promised that they will support each other in every step of their life.

Vaishu pov

After the camp it was the hectic days of my college life, as I had lots of records and notes to catch up. I spent almost half time of my second year in camp. I enjoyed a lot but I had a lot to catch which eventually taken away the time I had with Ragu.

He was also in lot of stress, he was managing his part time job,preparation for his the bank exams and final year project. Both of us had our time fully packed.

Exams are approaching and I was fully unmotivated to go further. I really need to spend some time with Ragu. We planned for a date, it was even our first date alone. We planned to go for a temple to get the positive vibration.

In a relationship, it is important to share your dream with your partner and have a vision together. It's not just about wishing to get married but to think for a better future together.

When me and Ragu started to look into the future we realized we had a long way to go.

I was so sure to have a future with him, when I promised I will be there for him and support him.

So I said to him " I will support you in every step of your life from now on and you will never face any problem from my side. Go run for your success and come back to me when you think it's time to have a family".
Before me getting emotional, Ragu just looked directly into my eyes(to the depth of my heart) He said, "You are my home and I know that I am yours. We are not gonna separate, we are going to face the world together. I promise that I will always stand by your side"

This was more than the motivation she expected and as they promised they stayed together, they tried to get success in what they decided.
Ragu become a bank officer and he successfully done a good marriage for Mathi. He also bought a house and land for his mothers.

I completed my post graduate degree and trained to become a teacher and now working in a school.

There was so many struggles we came across in the years passed but not a day passed without we talking to each other as we promised.

Still we had to face a big obstacle, our parents to give approval for our marriage. It's were the real drama happened and pain of love was realized.

Why is it so hard for Indian parents to accept a love marriage?.
