Author's Note:
I REALLY recommend you listen to the song with this!!! It actually suits perfectly with this chapter! Let it play through twice though since it's quite short!
Enjoy!!

Drew

"Why does this always happen to me?" I hear Jess whisper through her own sobs. I don't know what to say. What am I supposed to say?

As soon as Sean got inside the building with Gabby, the girl was running away. He took that chance to pull out his gun and he shot the first time, missing the swift girl, but the second time he shot her in the head and she instantly went down.

I hold Jess close as she sobs. Blood flows unstoppably from where the dagger is lodged in her stomach. I hate seeing her like this. I hate seeing her in so much pain. My eyes glaze over with tears just to see her like this. "It's okay, Jess, you'll be okay," I say softly.

"Drew, we have to get out of here," I hear Sean say from behind me.

"I'm not leaving her here." I instantly disagree.

"She has no chance! How are we supposed to get her out of this one?" Sean shouts as the groaning of a Horde of Infected come closer as they begin to get in.

"It's one time too much!" I hear Amy call to me as she begins shooting the Infected with her own pistol, "She won't make it!"

I feel tears beginning to fall. "Drew," I hear Jess whisper, tears continuing to fall down her face, "She's right, and I know you know that." The crystals in her eyes seem to cease to shine. Blood drips down from the corner of her mouth, running down her cheek. She's lost all of her colour, almost as if she's fading in my arms.

"But, you can't die," I whisper, "I don't want you to die."

"I won't forget you, SnowTop." She says, reaching up and touching the side of my face softly. I reach my own hand up and I place it on top of hers, before her hand goes limp

Suddenly, I feel someone grab my arm and I'm pulled away from Jess. She falls back on the ground, unmoving. I try to get out of their grip. This can't be real. Jess can't be dead. She can't be.

I see Gabby holding Buddy so he won't run off. I can almost see the sorrow in his eyes. His ears are down and I feel like I can hear him whining through the gunshots and Infected. The group climb through the gap, and I'm left last to go through. I look back at where she originally lied on the ground. Although, her body is completely gone. I glance around in search for her, but she's nowhere in sight.

"Drew, come on!" I hear Sean call.

With that, I climb through the gap of broken rotting wood without a word. Already, Amy and Gabby begin walking towards the thick of the forest. Amy holds two bags full of supplies. I see Buddy making his way over from where Gabby must've put him down. His ears are still down and he looks up at me. "You okay?" Sean asks.

I shake my head, "Just leave me alone." I say, meaning it to sound sterner, but it ends up coming out softer than I meant it to. Still, I avoid his eye contact.

"I'm sorry." He says sympathetically, but it's not sympathy that I want.

"We should find somewhere for camp, and organise the supplies out to everyone." Amy suggests.

"That's a good idea, we'll do that." Sean nods in her direction. He pats me on the shoulder, before making his way towards the other two.

I hear Buddy whine, but I simply follow the group with my hands in my pockets. I don't look back at the warehouse, because I already know that if I do I won't be able to leave.
