"do you want to come round mine?" kai asks me abruptly, looking over.
we were currently sat in a park opposite the school. it was almost 6pm, and we had been sitting here talking since detention finished at 4:30.
kai had shown me some new tricks he had learnt, and tried to help me learn. the problem being that i couldn't even stand on the skateboard without falling over.
eventually, we gave up. mainly because kai thought it was hilarious and couldn't say a word without laughing. kai will never make the mistake of giving me a skateboard again.
"really?"
i watch as he shuffles closer to me. "why not? its starting to get dark out."
i nod slowly, shrugging.
and we begin our walk to his house. kai and i were side by side, and every few minutes, our hands would brush against each other.
the moon was already out but i couldn't see any stars yet. it was also cold out, and i could see my breath in the air if i looked hard enough.
kai stuffed his hands into the pockets of his coat, and i sighed. of course i forget to bring a coat. luckily i knew he didn't live that far, so i only have to suffer in the cold for a little while.
soon, i can feel kai's eyes on me, but i try not to look at him. after a while, i feel him grab my right hand with his left, and drag it into his pocket.
he doesn't say a word, and neither do i. but i look at him to smile. he smiles back, squeezing my hand.
i was definitely not as cold anymore.
after another ten minutes, we finally reach kai's house.
he pushes me through the door, and locks it behind us. he grabs my hand once again, dragging me upstairs and into his room.
we both sit on the bed, and he takes off his coat.
"what do you want to do?" he asks me, getting up and hanging his coat on the back of his door.
"anything." i state, simply.
kai turns around to face me, his eyes lighting up, "movie marathon?"
i giggle and nod.
soon, we are both sprawled out on kai's bed. leftover pizza in between us, and a movie playing on the tv on the wall.
when the movie finished, i checked the time on my phone.
"kai, it's nearly 8."
he only looks at me in response.
"it's dark!" i say. i didn't want to walk home on my own in the dark.
"so? stay over."
stay over? kai wants me to stay over?
anxiety begins to take over, "are you sure?"
"yes!" he almost-yells, laughing.
soon enough, the lights are out and i'm listening to kai's heavy breaths from beside me.
i was originally going to sleep on the couch, but we ended up arguing for a while about why he should be the one to sleep on the couch, stating that, "you're the guest, and guests get beds!"
however, i was being unusually stubborn, and wouldn't let him.
eventually, kai said that we should both sleep on the bed, to which i agreed.
i turn on my side, facing away from the sleeping boy next to me. i slightly shiver, as the atmosphere is colder than under the covers.
i fidget, finding it hard to sleep. i feel kai also move, grumbling something about sleep.
i almost giggle- but manage to stop myself. i sigh, and turn over again.
"please keep quiet." i hear him mumble.
i frown, trying to look at him in the dark, but failing, "i haven't said a word, kai."
he turns over, and faces me before saying, "i mean still. can you stop moving?"
i feel my face flush pink, "sorry."
"it's fine, leo. just sleep."
i shuffle under the covers some more, trying to move as slow as possible, "are you cold?" he asks.
i shrug, before realising he can't see me. "a little."
he fidgets around, and before i can ask what he's doing, he presses his body against mine.
"better?"
i can feel his breath on my neck. he's cuddling me? spooning me?
it felt weird, but very comfortable. so i lie still and before i know it, my eyes are closing.
