In a hurry, Johnny ran across the hall of that hospital and squeezed into the elevator. He sidestepped anyone who would get in his way and almost leaned over the reception desk. He was panting, yet he kept his composure trying not to show his nervousness and despair.
"I'm looking for Seo Jinwoo, a seven year old boy...!"
The nurse looked at the computer screen briefly and then pointed out the direction. Walking fast Johnny finally came across his brother. He was with his cheeks damp with tears as the doctor carefully adjusted the serum that went all the way to the needle attached to his tiny hand.
"Jinwoo..."
Johnny sighed painfully, but somewhat relieved to see his brother.
"Hello, are you the person responsible?" The doctor straightened up.
"Yes, I am his older brother" he didn't hide his concern. "Is he okay? I was told he was complaining of stomach ache and throwing up."
"It's enteritis, but don't worry, it's not serious" the kept a calm smile. "He'll be completely fine in a few days. I gave an injection with antibiotics to eliminate the infection, after the serum is finished he can go home. Due to vomiting, we had to do venous rehydration, but he was a brave boy and didn't give us any trouble, right Jinwoo?" he then looked at the little boy.
"It's because I want to be like my brother..." he still sobbed as his little hands scratched his eyes, eliminating tears.
"I see" the man laughed. "That's the medicine he should be taking" handed Johnny a prescription. "Two a day, one before lunch and one before dinner for seven days. If the symptoms remain, please come back for more tests."
"Alright..."
"He also needs to avoid fatty, highly seasoned foods, milk and dairy products. It's for the best to eat easy-to-digest foods like banana, rice, chicken."
Johnny agreed after quickly running his eyes over that paper that had been handed to him. In a brief but respectful bow, Johnny thanked the doctor.
"In a few minutes a nurse will remove the IV, so you can go home."
"Thank you."
As soon as the man left, Johnny sat in front of his brother in the chair beside the bed. He smiled slightly wiping the little boy's face with his hands carefully.
"Was my Jinwoo scared?"
"No... Didn't the doctor tell you that I am brave?" he really wanted to cry again, but held back his tears with a pout.
"Did it hurt a lot?" Johnny's melancholy smile.
"Yes..." some tears escaped again. "I'm not as strong as you yet..."
"No, no, no..." Johnny hugged Jinwoo stroking his hair affectionately. "It wasn't your fault. It's okay, I'm here with you now... Hyung will protect you from the bad pain."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Promise you won't go away again?"
And with a heavy heart, Johnny wanted to cry. It wasn't fair for a child to go through all that. He was hurt. He filled his brother with kisses on the face and smiled fixing his eyes on Jinwoo's.
Soon a nurse came over. The Seo brothers then drove home in Johnny's car after he bought the medicine from the pharmacy on the second floor of the hospital.
"How about staying home tomorrow?"
Johnny was really scared of the feeling he had when Jinwoo's teacher called him. He would prefer to make sure that the boy was well and healthy to feel at ease in keeping him away from him.
