The apartment door was already unlocked when Johnny arrived. He was still unsure about all that, how she would react to having the whole story cleared up. Would she hate him? Fear was about to make him give up, however Johnny entered that apartment as if he was full of courage. Gradually the sense of danger had disappeared as soon as a pleasant aroma reached his nose. Curious and at the same time full of anxiety, Johnny walked to Yuri's kitchen to find her in a simple brown apron. The blender was with something inside, but it was off.
"Hey, you've arrived. Here" she called him with the right hand. "help me with this."
"What are you doing?"
Without delays he stood beside her ready to quell his curiosity.
"Cake" gave him space. "Do you know how to make whipped cream?"
"No...?"
"Okay, I just need you to use the mixer while I wash the dishes."
Yuri reached for the hand mixer to adjust its speed and laughed at Johnny's reaction.
"You just need to do it like this... It's not rocket science."
In a circular motion, she demonstrated to Johnny what he needed to do them handed him hand mixer.
"Calm down, it won't rip your fingers off" she ended up laughing at the other's nervousness.
"Like this?" repeated what Yuri had shown him.
"See? Is easy."
Gradually he learned how to do it and Yuri removed the lid from the blender to check the cake batter. Satisfied, she left everything as it was and focused on doing the dishes. After a little while, the uncomfortable silence begun.
"Johnny."
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry for making you do this."
"Using a mixer won't kill me" he laughed.
She got rid of the water by drying her hands in the dishcloth.
"Not that" smiled for a second and touched his shoulder as she approached again. "By the way, it's good, you can stop now."
And so he did it with the girl volunteering to clean the mixer now.
"So what is it?"
"Our deal. I mean, the threat I made."
Johnny went silent to watch the girl.
"I don't know exactly what you're going through, but here I was being insensitive and selfish."
"Yuri, everything is fine. You..." was interrupted.
"No, it's not."
As she finished washing everything, she turned to face him again.
"I took advantage of the situation. That's not me at all... I feel like I've been losing myself since what happened months ago."
"Are you talking about the reason for your hiatus?"
She bit her lip, looking not too brave.
"I let it get to my head."
"What happened?" Johnny touched her arm briefly in an encouraging grip.
"Diet, training, recordings, commercials, programs, lives, concerts, travel, tours...! I couldn't take it anymore, living for work instead of working because I'm alive" her eyes watered. "I was feeling so alone... As soon as I had the opportunity, I went to a nightclub. What could go wrong? I just wanted to feel a little bit of life, of being in control" she looked disappointed. "Of course, everything could go wrong if there was a paparazzi outside and I get drunk enough to pass out in the middle of the dance floor" squeezed her own elbows staring at the floor. "The company got rid of all my videos throwing up, falling down, being carried outside..." the tears that escaped she quickly dried up. "They decided to give me a break, a moment to rest and rethink my actions."
