Four POV
We walk over to my car and I open the door for her to get in. I can't process what is stirring deep inside me. How has she escaped my eyes all these years? How had I forgotten such a free spirit? Had I let the pain and fear hide me from all the light or had I lost myself behind this mask? She was the first person after my mother left that I saw was truly free and full of light. I had never spoke to her that night her family came to our house for dinner, but her eyes had held such joy. I would say it was the child part of her, but here I am sitting next to her and those eyes still speak joy. When my mother left I thought that everything would turn dark, but when the light struck my shoes as the door opened for the Prior Family, for Tris to come in maybe that was a calling. Maybe her light all this time was meant to brighten my way.
She has made herself comfortable as I am driving through Amity Heights. She flips through my CDs and I see the rainbow circle of the disc as she moves it through the light and into the CD player. Savage Garden flows through my speakers and I hear her start to sing along. Before I know it I start to laugh.
"Don't laugh at my singing." She says jokingly.
"I'm not I just didn't expect you to make yourself at home so quick."
She points to the backseat with her thumb, "Oh should I sit in the back seat then so I am not too at home."
"Yes." I say sarcastically and see her smile grow.
"So where are we going?"
"I thought we could either go to my place or to the pit. Which would you prefer?"
"How about..." She drags out her words as she thinks.
"Well come on is it a hard choice."
"You got movies?"
"Yes."
"You got scary movies."
"Yes?"
"Okay then let's go watch a movie at your house."
Her answer surprises me. Not many people have been in my house. Lauren came once for dinner and I took her home after. Marcus has business acquaintances come over, but that is about it. I turn the corner and head down my road. Pulling up to my driveway I feel her sit straight up. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is open. I shut the engine off and she spins her head around to look at me. "You are Marcus Eaton's son. I've been here before. A long time ago."
"Yeah. I know I remember." She looks at me questioningly. "To be honest with you I didn't remember until today when I saw you sleeping."
"How would seeing me sleep remind you...oh yeah I did fall asleep that night because I remember waking up in my bed the next morning." She giggles. "I was bored and you let Caleb have the remote." We both laugh and I open my door.
We walk into the house and I see Tris looking around. I walk into the kitchen to grab some sodas for us. "It hasn't changed much in here has it?"
"No. Marcus likes to keep things....normal."
"Well your television is like thirty inches bigger then the last one." She says looking at it and then back at me.
"Yeah that is a 70 inch I only have a 40 inch in my room."
"Where is your room?"
I lose all speach abilities as her questions clings to the air. I have never shown anyone my room. Me. My mother. My father. No one else has stepped foot in it. I see her lift her shoulders waiting for an answer. I collect myself, "Um.. upstairs."
