Alot of people aren't really what they seem to be. You find out thru the hardest times who will actually stand beside you. Those are there no matter the situation. Then there are those with sweet words on their lips but their heart is far from it! I have a tendency to think more highly of people then they do me. So, I back off. This is even true with some family members!
"Proverbs 18:24 - a man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer then a brother. "
Closer than a brother! In the previous chapter, Proverbs 17:17, it says "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."!
So, this would mean that it's a given that your blood kin will or can cause you problems! No matter the "love" they have or say they have for you! With me and my sisters and our children also, we fought amongst ourselves but, if you pick on the one we are at war with, we all turn on you! But let's look at the spiritual side of this:
The friend that sticks closer than a brother in 18:24 is referring to God in the old Testament. In the new Testament, it means Jesus, which is the Son of God. After all the chaos, all the war, the battle is over and the smoke clears, only one will be standing there to comfort you, clean you up, put the pieces back together and wipe away your tears!..
Jesus. The Savior and lover of our souls!
Jesus was betrayed by Judas - one of the 12! Can you believe that? He walked with Jesus, saw miracles by Jesus! But in Matthew 26:14 begins the story:
Verse 16, he sought opportunity to betray Jesus. He looked for it!
What!!!!
To be near the Savior! To see Him! To touch Him! The hear His teachings! Omgosh!!
Anyway, we are not any better then Jesus! If a devilish spirit can enter a man such as Judas to betray our King, we should not be shocked when it happens to us! Even in trial, Jesus stood silent while His accusers lied on Him! At times, it's better to keep your mouth shut , pray to God for those people and release the hurt they have caused. Let God deal with them! He will turn it around for good!
