Two weeks later, I was sitting in my room, I was trying to find out more about Samantha's mom, I had been trying to do that for the last week I had found some stuff but I couldn't find a lot, and that was causing stress, more stress than was necessary as this is probably not important. I took a break from searching and went downstairs, "I don't know why you're trying so hard to find stuff out about her, you don't even know if Samantha is going to care" Charlie told me as I got downstairs.
"I know, but I feel like I need to know stuff about her, I mean I didn't know anything" I explained.
"And what have you learned now?"
I sighed "not much"
"If you really want to learn stuff this badly I know you'll be able to, just don't stress to much over this, ok?"
"Okay, I'll stop focusing so much on it" I told her.
I did keep doing research though, and I stopped focusing as much on it like I told Charlie I'd do. I did work on trying to find things out for a while longer before a gave up for a couple of weeks to focus on work, the case we got turned out to go on a lot longer then any of us expected and so two months later, once it was over, we all just needed a break so I didn't continue searching into Olivia.
A few hours after we got back to the house, almost everyone had just been in their seperate rooms I had gone downstairs with Samantha, the entire house was quiet, I was sure that some of them were probably asleep, it had been a long and hard case so I wouldn't be surprised. I had been playing with Samantha for a couple of minutes when Charlie came down "what are you doing?" She asked me when she came in.
"I don't know, I'm trying to play with her, but she seems more interested in looking at anything other than her toys" I explained.
"Well maybe she just needs her favorite person" she smiled and picked Samantha up, Samantha made a noise when she did which was a noise she would make when happy, she also smiled as she was lifted up.
"You think you're her favorite?" I asked, joking with her.
"Well obviously I'm her favorite, didn't you hear her? Who else would be her favorite?" She joked back.
"I don't think that's what that meant" I joked "I would be" I smiled.
"Mmmm...I don't know you might be her second favorite."
"Why wouldn't I be her favorite?"
She shrugged "she must just be smart" she said as she rocked her back and forth a bit.
"Haha" I said sarcastically.
Charlie laughed "Who else would be her favorite?" She joked. Samantha looked towards who had come downstairs and was coming into the living room, we looked over and it was Briggs.
"Not him" I said since that's where Samantha was looking.
"No, she can't like him the most" she joked too.
"What's happening?" Briggs asked, confused. Charlie and I held back laughter.
"Nothing, it's not important" Charlie informed him.
"Alright " he answered. "Charlie and I were talking about having a bonfire tonight, everyone else likes the idea. You want to join?" He asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" I asked.
"Because of Samantha"
"Why would she change what I want to do?" I asked, confused.
"I was just wondering what you wanted to do since I didn't know if you'd want to join us or wanted to stay here with her"
"Also it's a bonfire and she's a baby so there'll be smoke" Charlie added in, "so what do you want to do?"
"Well I don't want to not go down there and I don't want to have to take the baby monitor with and go in when she cries so I guess I'll take her with" I decided.
"You sure? It might not be very safe, Mike" Charlie asked.
"Yeah I'm sure. I'll just keep her directly out of the smoke" I told them.
