We were waiting for nearly an hour since they had to do a bunch of scans to figure out the problem and then see the extent of what was wrong. After they were done we were brought to the room Mike was in, "so what's wrong with you?" I asked him when we walked in.
"I fractured 3 vertebrates. It's a stable burst fracture, if it had been worse I would have most likely been paralyzed" he explained.
"Well then it's good it wasn't that bad" Jakes said.
Mike nodded, "the doctor will be back in to explain everything I have to do and what I can't do, I'll be able to go back to the house"
"You just can't do much" I stated.
"Mhm" he nodded. After a few minutes a doctor came in to talk to him and explain everything. Mike was released from the hospital afterwards.
-Mike's POV-
When we got back to the house it took me a while to get out of the car because of both the pain I was in and the brace I had to wear. Since I was still in pain I just wanted to rest so I went up to my room and layed on my bed. I was left alone for a while but then Charlie came into the room, "Hey, they told me what happened, you okay?" She asked.
"As good as I can be right now" Charlie nodded when I told her that. "It still hurts really bad" I told her.
"Do you have medicine for the pain?"
"Yeah......."
"What's wrong?"
"I don't want to take it"
"Why?" I just shrugged when she asked although I knew why I didn't want to, I didn't want to relapse.
"Where's Johnny?" I asked, knowing Charlie had been working with Paige so Paige would also have been back, most likely downstairs, and I knew that Johnny wasn't here.
"I don't know, I just know he went somewhere with Samantha. I'll let you get some rest" she told me as she stood up from the bed and left the room. I felt tired but was in so much pain I couldn't. I must have fallen asleep at some point but it didn't last long, when I woke up Johnny was standing next to the bed, holding Samantha and looking at me, "Dude, you look like you were hit by a truck. You okay?" He asked me.
"Yeah. I feel like I got hit by a truck. Were you told what happened?" I asked him and he nodded. "Where have you been?"
"A park, she wanted to go" he said
I smiled a bit since it hurt to laugh "of course she did" I winced in pain as I attempted to move slightly.
He nodded "You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah...just...pain" I mumbled.
"But are you okay? We don't need you passing out or anything"
"I don't know. It still hurts. I think I need something" I said in pain. I slowly sat up how I had to without moving my back in the brace.
"You sure?"
"Yeah" I stood up and slowly went downstairs with him. "Briggs where's my medicine, I know you brought it in" I asked as I got downstairs.
"In the kitchen" he said and came out of the living room "and it's going to stay there and you can only get it when you are supposed to take it" he ordered as I headed to the kitchen.
"That's ridiculous, why does it have to stay down here, it'd be easier for me to get upstairs."
"We don't need you relapsing, Mike" Paige said from the living room.
"I'm not going to relapse"
"This is the only way we can make sure you don't" Briggs stated.
"How would you know if I can get it or not?" I asked.
"Well you can hardly move it won't be that hard to keep you contained, and one of us will be the one that gets it for you so we'll know if to much is gone" he explained, I nodded, I didn't want to relapse I knew he was just trying to be cautious and avoid it from happening but it felt like he was treating me like a child.
"Does it have to stay down here though?" I asked since I really didn't want to walk up and down the stairs whenever it was time to take the pain medicine.
"Yes, it'd be to easy for you to get into if it was upstairs" he informed me.
"We can just bring you it if you can't make it down here" Charlie suggested.
"Okay. Am I aloud to take it now?" I asked since I was in a lot of pain.
"Yeah, you were supposed to take one right when we got back anyways" Briggs answered. After I took my medicine I decided to sit in the living room so I could be involved in conversations. "When you were upstairs we also decided that since you won't be able to take care of Samantha until you're better we will all take care of her until then for you" Charlie explained.
"Okay" I said.
