Chapter 26: You're my Soulmate

[Jihye's POV]

Oh my god! I am so nervous. I'm gonna meet Yoongi's parents today. How should I introduce myself? What should I wear?

*kakao* Message from Genius-Yoongi

Genius-Yoongi: I'm waiting downstairs.

Oh no. They've arrived. I quickly grab my bag and gave Seol-tang a kiss before leaving the house.

Yoongi is in the agency's car. He opened the door to let me in. A Bighit staff is driving us to the destination.

We arrived at Dr. Kwon's Clinic. Yoongi's parents are already in the room. Yoongi's parents look a little puzzled of my presence, so Dr. Kwon introduced me as Yoongi's good friend.

I moved to the back of the room to allow Yoongi's mum to sit beside Yoongi. During the entire session, Dr. Kwon helps to facilitate the discussion between the three of them. I can see the effort from Yoongi's parents to try to understand from Yoongi's perspective despite their lack of understanding of mental health. I believe Dr. Kwon had probably briefed them so that they can build a better connection with Yoongi.

Yoongi also looks much more soften up, with his mum occasionally hold his hands and pat his shoulders. Yoongi's dad still look pretty tensed up.

After the half-hour counseling session ended. The four of us went for lunch nearby. Yoongi has to leave for a schedule at 2 p.m. I introduced myself again to his parents.

🦉 Jihye: I'm sorry that I couldn't formally introduce myself earlier. My name is Kim Jihye.

Yoongi's mum: Are you his girlfriend?

I blushed and replied: "Omonim, we are ... just good friends".

Yoongi Mum: Don't be shy. He's just like his father. Till now, his father had never said a word of 'I love you' before.

Yoongi Dad: Ehem... We are in a rush. Why is the food not served yet?

The whole lunch conversation is just between Yoongi's mum and me, talking about how is Yoongi doing over these 3 years in Seoul and his achievements in BTS. Yoongi and his Dad are just stingy in words. But they show their concern for each other by serving each other the side dishes and helping to get things and ... fighting to pay the bill. (っ- ‸ – ς)

In order to fight for more time to allow Yoongi and his dad to converse more. Yoongi Mum asked me along to run an errand and request Yoongi's Dad to send Yoongi to the SBS building for his schedule. Despite all the verbal rejections, Yoongi's Dad still hopped on the car with Yoongi.

[Yoongi's POV]

In the car, transiting to SBS building

Yoongi's Dad: Yoongi-ah. Don't live like me.

Yoongi looks at his father. The man he always looked up to. A person who always makes a rational decision in any situation is telling him not to live like him.

Yoongi's Dad: I made a lot of bad decisions in the past that brought a lot of hardship to the family. The reason that I want to stop you from your music dream because Dad does not want you to repeat my failure. But apparently, you are doing a lot better than what I've thought.

Yoongi's Dad: Do what you like. Do what you believe in. Son, I want you to be happy too.
