so as we all know good and
well I am an unorganized
author who barely thinks
through her own stories but
thinks that she can help
others plan their stories
because I'm a clown.

but seriously why are y'all
coming to me for this shit

THINGS TO DO:
— so I plan out my Harry Potter non-aus through the use of the books
— when using the books I typically will reread to remember the main and important events
— like for example in Records I am currently planning through the end of Order of the Phoenix and the battle at the ministry
— I find it easier to do that and figure out the importance your character plays within it, don't have the OC take the place of a canon character or take the lines of a canon character
— but also remember to write canon characters like the way they were written, the worst thing you could do is write a canon character unlike themselves
— know everything there is to your character, their birthday, their zodiac, their favorite color, their favorite bands, etc. If you can't answer those you don't know your character well enough (lmao y'all should test me on my characters with this)
— your character does not revolve around the love Interest or the plot of the books, they can have their own plot going on as well, take for example the character is dealing with problems at home as well as the war and shit
— know all of the intricate details first and then you can go from there

THINGS NOT DO:
— everyone plans differently, that's just how I plan, you do not have to plan like that
— however as we have learned, we do not write canon characters out of canon that's all thank you and good day
