ASHTONS GUIDE OF HOW TO MAKE CLICHE PLOTS NOT SO CLICHE: — the first and most important step will be to always put your own twist in the story, add something that is unique to your own writing or something you want within the story — for example,,, in one of my fics my OC is Sirius Blacks daughter, however since he was in Azkaban her mother never really told her exactly which Black brother was her father, just to you know calm the girl's needs, and she doesn't find out until her best friend tells her (still cliche having a Sirius' daughter fic ig but you have to make it your own) — also choosing different love interests as well helps! most of you probably thought that that Sirius' Daughter fic is a Harry fic,,, and like for once it's going to be someone other than him !!! bc I may be a hoe for him but like also Ginny 👀 — choosing their personalities!! they don't have to be exact replicas of their parents, nor do they have to be polar opposites, give me Draco sister plots where she might not be elitist but still has those very ambitious plans for her own life, where she's dependent — if you're writing a fic, do not write canon characters out of character okay? don't make Lily a bitch or Hermione be a bitch to someone else — if your character is going to be close with the marauders, don't let them take place of peter and don't make them just like the others, give them their own personality — the most important thing to writing a cliche fic and trying to make it less cliche, it's making it your own to be honest, it's adding something very different and amazing to make it, but like it's a little weird to explain without plot context so if you need any help feel free to pm me on my wp insta sebstab.wp !!
