Annie's POV

I met Isabelle's gaze and exchanged a quick smile with her.  I was careful not to get caught, because I knew too well what would happen if I was.  I would get exiled from the popular group, dumped by my boyfriend, and end up no better than Isabelle, sitting at the back of the cafeteria with the nerds.  So I turned back to Sara, who was currently gossiping about some girl who she thought was wearing something she deemed "ugly" or some shit along those lines.   I ran my fingers through my hair, pushing it back and pretended to pay attention to whatever the hell Sara was saying.

"Oh look who it is," Sara laughed in her cackle of a voice.

"The little book nerd, she looks like she could use a little fall..." She continued.

'No no no.' I thought to myself, but I didn't dare say anything aloud.  Gabriella and I exchanged a worried glance as I see Sara stick out her foot right in front of Isabella as she passed our table, just in time to trip her and have her fall on her face right in front of everyone.  Then, to make in worse, I had to fake laugh as one of my best friends ran off to the bathroom, when I just want to punch that little bitch Sara for hurting her.  I steal a glance at Isabelle before she disappeared into the bathroom, her head down, and I feel like shit because I can't help her.

"What are you looking at An?" Sara asked.

"Just how pathetic that loser is." I lied and covered it up with a smirk.
