The phone rang.

She didn't pick up.

It rang again. Still she remained sitting. Looking at the ceiling. Not focusing on any one point, but allowing her eyes to wander and explore the flat, boring surface. Thoughts of Ashton fluttered through her head like butterflies.

The phone in front of her rang for the third time and Becky gave Jessica a questioning glance from her own desk.

'Aren't you going to answer that?'

Jessica blinked and turned her attention to her co worker.

'Hmm?'

'The phone, aren't you going to pick it up, it's what you're paid to do after all'

'Oh right, the phone, yeah I was just going to-'

The phone rang again.

Jessica stared at it blankly. Unsure of what to do. Becky sighed and reached across.

'Hi there, you're speaking to Becky. What can I do for you? A reservation for tonight? Yes of course, just let me check our availability for you'

Becky continued her professional gibberish whilst Jessica carried on daydreaming.

'And the name? Woods is that spelt W-O-O-D-S? Alright thank you, see you at 7, Miss Woods.'

Becky put down the phone and stared hard at Jessica.

'So, penny for your thoughts?'

'What, oh nothing, I was just thinking about, umm nothing, it doesn't matter.'

'Jess, I've known you for almost a year now, I've never seen you like this, what's the matter?'

'Well, there's this boy-'

'I knew it! Who is it, is it one of the guests? Please tell me no, you know guests are off limits. Jess?!'

'Its-' She sighed, 'he's not a guest, he's...no one, he's just someone I met'

'Jessica, I can't believe you didn't tell me! Give me all the details, leave nothing out!'

Jess sighed. 'Not now Becky, I'm really not in the mood, and my shift's over now, I um, I have to go'

Tears pricked Jessica's eyes as she hurried out the door to her car, not watching where she was going she proceeded to trip over the flag stones straight into the side of an expensive white Audi.
