Lindy's POV

The room is filled with silence only broken every so often by the sound of someone eating crisps.

"Logan? Do you have to eat right now? I mean seriously are you not the least bit worried?" I asked my older brother who was demolishing a bag of crisps.

"Of course I'm worried Lindy, I am just a stress eater! It's a thing. Don't judge!" My brother replied as he licked the remains of crisps off his fingers.

I just scowled. Then it fell silent as well all sat in the living room waiting. After what seemed like hours but was more in reality 15 minutes, I received a text message. It was Riley.

Riley: Lindy! Apparently Maya's mother died earlier today and Maya is still in pretty bad shape! She needs to have her cuts stitched and she apparently fainted from the loss of blood. We don't know how Maya got the injuries but she needs help before we can find out. 😢

Tears start to fill my eyes, I read the text to the others and they just sit silently listening. I reply to Riley.

Lindy: 😨 Poor Maya! Keep us updated on her, send her our love! Xox

I immediately received a reply

Riley: Will do! Xox

Jasmine then piped up, "So... She is going to be ok right? I mean it's nothing too serious is it?" She asked clearly concerned.

"What? Other then the fact she needs stitches and her mother is dead? I hope she will be ok, nobody deserves this to happen to them." Garret replies.
I just sit in silence and hope for the best.

Riley's POV

It has been two hours since my parents became Maya's medical guardians, So it has been two hours since Maya has had the stitches put in. Suddenly the same nurse approached us.

"Maya has been in recovery for an hour and a half now and so I believe you may go in and see her but beware she maybe in pain and is currently asleep."

I immediately shot up. "Thank you for saving my best friend!" I told the nurse.

She just smiled, nodded and walked away. Me and the others slowly made our way to Maya's room and opened the door.

There she was, Maya was lying there peacefully sleeping. Her arms and face showed many bruises and cuts but nether less, she never looked more at ease. I sat next to her and held her hand as I watched her chest move up and down to the rhythm of her breathing. I don't know what or who happened to her but I know I will find out and when I do, I will protect Maya from it all.

As time has passed my eyes begin to grow heavy and my lack of sleep finally catches up to me. The next thing I know, I am starting to fall asleep when I feel my body being placed next to Maya still holding her hand. I will always be here for my best friend no matter what.

I hear everyone leave except for one person, I know who it is as they have walked over to me and are giving me a quick peck on the cheek. Even with my eyes closed I know it is him and then he whispers "Good night my Riley, get better Maya." It was my Lucas.
