It was a late night filled with stars, a little boy was tucked into bed by his loving mother.

"Mother, could you tell me a bedtime story before you go to sleep."
"Sweetie it's late you must go to sleep."
"Please, one small story."

The mother couldn't help but smile at him.

"Ok sweetie, one story."

There was once a princess lost with a red bow around her waist, who couldn't find her way home. Her sat down on a tall hill, looming over the sea. Her long red hair fell into the water moving back and forth with the small tide. An octopus saw the princess' hair that had tumbled into the sea and mistook it for another octopus.

And he fell in love..

He quickly searched for a gift for this beautiful octopus, and shuffled through the sand, something sharp cut the octopus. A rainbow colored shell as pretty as opal and pearls, swiftly but gingerly grabbing the shell. He presented the shell to the octopus, but the beautiful octopus suddenly got out of the water and he followed. When he found out it was actually the princess' hair, the octopus offered to help the princess return home safely.

She nodded her head, the octopus raised his tentacles picking her up and carried her away from the hill. Soon the silhouette of a castle started to form and the land getting closer. When he was close enough, careful placing her down and giving her the rainbow colored shell, getting ready to swim away. Before he was going back, she wanted to repay him a favor for his generosity. She held her hair in one bundle, with one strike. Cutting her hair with ease and untying her red ribbon, retying it around the hair keeping it together. The princess gave the octopus her hair as a thank you gift, to keep him company in the empty sea.

The octopus thanked the princess and for a long time, the octopus felt like he had company, carrying around the princess' red hair. But that soon changed when the currents untied the princess' bundled hair, the octopus tried to gather the strands together, not realizing he had tied himself into knots. He pulled and tugged on his tentacles hoping to get loose but he tore himself into bits.

Each piece of the torn octopus' body was met with a strand of hair, and came back to life.

"That's where jellyfish come from sweetie."
"Really..is that true mother?"

She chuckled softly and kissed him on the forehead.

"That's for you to decide my little prince. Now good night."

Closing the door behind her, he yawned and turned to the window looking out into the star, listening to the calm waves of the sea.

"Maybe it is..."
