changkyun, distracted by his worsening headache, hopped off the van, not realizing that he was about to fall. kihyun did notice it though, quickly stepping forward and reaching out to catch the younger in time.
"woah! hey, hey, hey! take it easy, kyun." he let the maknae lean on him while they were walking towards the door of the hotel to ensure he wouldn't fall again.
"kyun, are you okay? did you get hurt?"
"no, hyung. i'm fine. don't worry."
"aw, baby. no, you're not. you practically just collapsed. of course i worry and you can't get away from that. you know me, don't you? i just want you to be okay."
"i didn't- ugh. yeah i know. i'm sorry, thank you hyung." changkyun sighed.
"for what?"
"for caring for me, hyung." kihyun smiled at that. he wanted to take the younger's hand, but he held himself back. a bit later, they entered the lobby, approaching the other members who were all standing next to the wall, talking to their manager.
"oh, you're here. good. i have to announce something." the manager said, turning to face all of them.
"listen, we will be staying here for another few days. we need to wait until changkyun gets better and considering that we don't have any schedules here anymore, you all have free time during this stay in boston. we are about two hours away from our old hotel, so the surrounding area is different. you can leave the hotel whenever you want, go wherever and do whatever you want, but always keep a phone with you. better don't go out by yourselves. and remember to eventually wear your masks, to make sure not too many fans recognize you immediately, okay? if something's up, you can call either the members or us. and you always have to be available if you get lost or something like that. understood?" they all nodded, kihyun always keeping an eye on their youngest.
"okay, and what about the rooms? can we choose by ourselves?" jooheon asked.
"well.. no, not really. i apologize, but we set the rooms already." their manager answered.
"oh, okay. and how?" minhyuk added, listening closely. kihyun hoped he would be roomed together with changkyun to make sure he'll get better and to take care of him, but that didn't happen.
"first, room number 24: shownu and wonho. second, room number 25: jooheon and minhyuk. third, room number 26: kihyun and hyungwon. and lastly, room number: 27 changkyun."
"is he sharing the room with you?" hyunwoo asked their manager.
"no. sorry changkyun, but we have to do it this way. you are really sick, and we can't risk that the others get infected as well. i hope you understand that." he said, eyes fixed on the maknae. kihyun was so upset about the decision, he didn't get it at all. it was bullshit.
"yes, hyung-nim. i understand." changkyun said, but the guilt and disappointment in the younger's voice didn't stay unnoticed by kihyun.
"what? why? changkyun is that sick and you let him stay alone in a room? on his own? he needs someone who takes care of him! you can't leave him alone like that! that we don't get infected- wow. we could get sick anywhere at any time. his health is so important, so why would you let him-" kihyun's anger took it's turn, but he was interrupted by changkyun gripping his wrist, looking at him with sharp eyes and then he spoke up.
"kihyun, come on. it's fine. it's better that way. i don't want any of you to get sick. please, just leave it." the mentioned one kept quiet immediately. yes, he was not satisfied at all, but he listened to changkyun. only to him it seems. he tried to say something else, but he realized it being pointless, as he watched changkyun carelessly taking the keys for room 27 out of the manager's hands and turning around to leave. more coughing was heard before the elevator door closed, after he placed his bag down next to him in the elevator. the others just stood there, no one saying anything else, when kihyun angrily took his own bag and went up the stairs, not bothering to wait for the elevator to come back down.
