We flew back to new Ephyra.

Baird on coms: Welcome back home kids! Oh and Jinn found out about our little vacation to hammerland. And as I predicted, she's not happy.  Now that's she's done yelling at me. She wants to yell at you. All of you. Especially Y/n.

Y/n: Why?!

Baird: Probably because your made to take orders. Could of told them right off the bat that wouldn't happen.

Y/n: Man, I'm only partly robotic.

We landed and got off the raven.

Jd: Come on time to face the music.

We entered the building.

Marcus: James, how about I go and see Jinn first? I'll calm the storm before you brief her.

Jd sarcastic: I'm sorry--is sergeant Fenix being, diplomatic?

Marcus: Call it what you want, but we're at war. Even if it doesn't feel like it yet. You coming too Y/n? To get it over with.

Y/n: I want to see what's on the data drive. And download some to my brain.

Jd and marcus started to argue about the silo. Marcus walked away.

Del: What was that about?

Jd: Same thing its always about.

Kait: Hey. You know it's just because he cares right?

I watched the janitor robot trying to ignore this conversation. I followed them to Baird's workshop.

Baird: So I still can't find the other hammer of dawn satellites.  Accidentally, I invented an Ai that understands sarcasm.

Jd: *shows data drive* Here, the data you wanted. Maybe it'll help.

Baird: Find lost satellites? I doubt it, but I'll  look.

As Baird was explaining the difficulties of having only one satellite. Dave was malfunctioning hitting a wall over and over. But Baird introduced us to Jack 2.0. And that we get to take him with us.

Baird: Y/n. I got some new upgrades I can download into you.  Want them?

Y/n: What will they do?

Baird: They'll allow you to use your eyes to flash enemies and stun them. It'll also download martial arts data into you to increase your hand to hand combat capabilities.

Y/n: I'm  in.

I sat down in a chair and baird hooked me up to the computer via a access port in the back of my head.

Baird: Now Kait. Sit with him while I go babysit Del and Jd.

Kait sat next to me.

Kait: You know Y/n. I never told you this. But I'm glad to have you. I really am.

Y/n: You were the one that didn't want me with. Because of what I am.

Kait: Y...Yeah. And I still beat myself up over it. But I'm glad Jd and Del didn't listen to me. You always have our backs and when you're around.  I never really have any fear of losing a fight.

Y/n: This is sudden. What brought this up?

Kait: Well. Back at the silo. I realized just how much you do for us. And how little we actually thank you.

Y/n: Its fine. I was specifically made for this.

The download was completed and I unplugged myself from the computer.  Jd and Del were done and we headed to the armory to get a component for Jack. We saw Fahz sparing with a dee bee unit.

Jd: Hey Fahz! How's life in Jinn's rear echelon treating you?

Fahz: Brilliant....but then we can't all be on some....secret mission.

Y/n: To be fair. It didn't stay secret. But we'll leave you to the punching robots.

Fahz: Hang on a second shit stick!

Jd: Shit stick. Del, theories?

Del: I don't know. Maybe a stick made out of shit?

Jd: Or. A stick to stir up shit.

Y/n: Nah. I like Del's a lot more. Makes more sense.

Fahz: All right fuck off! How about we make this interesting.  You and me. Spar. Right now tin man.

Y/n: That's racist. And beating you ain't interesting.

Fahz: Yes or no.

Jd: Hey Kait. You want on on that.

Kait: Depending on what's being measured. I would be at a distinct disadvantage. Then again, maybe not.

Fahz: Hilarious. Are you in or not.

Y/n: All right fine.

Del: Let's just grab the component and get out of here.

Y/n: Nah. Let me do this first.

As I turned to face Fahz he went to punch me. I caught it.

Y/n: I see the upgrade worked.

I threw Fahz aside.

Y/n: Try again. Come on.

Fahz went to punch me. I dodged and delivered three strikes to his chest and an uppercut knocking him down.

Y/n: Thing about the bots. They'll spar but not win. Against their programming.  It does explain the false confidence though.

Fahz got up and stormed out.  We got the component.  On the way to Jinn's office Kait got a headache.  I put my hand on her shoulder.

Y/n: You good?

Kait: Yeah.

Y/n: You got to see someone about those headaches.

Kait: I will. After we see Jinn.

I nodded. We went to Jinn's office. We entered the office.

Jinn: Ah Lieutenant. I'm told you had a successful mission.

Y/n: One that every other squad would have failed.

Jd: First minister.  I can explain.

Jinn: Please. Explain. Why Baird supersedes me.

Y/n: Because he didn't accuse outsiders of kidnapping cog. Like a dumbass.

Jinn seemed to ignore that comment.

Jinn: Explain how launching a hammer of dawn satellite does not require my approval.

Y/n: Because its either arguing with you or surviving.  And talking to you is like talking to a brick wall.

Jinn: Y/n I will-!

Y/n: What?! Court marshal me!?

Kait: Y/n.

Y/n: No! She needs to get it through her thick fucking skull! I've done countless calculations. And almost none are good without the hammer of dawn. The only ones that are good require perfect leadership! Something Jinn doesn't have!

Jinn: The hammee of dawn has taken more cog lives than most of the armies we've opposed.

Y/n: And yet their why we managed to hold back the locust.

Marcus: Its not the weapons I don't trust. Its the people who use them.

Jinn: The hammer of dawn will not be brought back online.

Y/n: Who would have figured!? Dumbass did it again!?

Kait: Y/n. *puts hand on Y/n's shoulder* Please.

I was so livid. But Kait putting her hand on my shoulder calmed me down.

The console on Jinn's desk was beeping.  Jinn went to it and carmine was under attack and needed reinforcements. We volunteered to take command of the reinforcement effort.

Y/n: Jinn.

Jinn: What?

Y/n: You've doomed us all. *leaves*
