As far as castles go, the Knaerwood tower was by far the least famous. Sure, it had once been occupied by rich kings and gallant knights, but those days were long over.

Now it stood, crooked and empty, all but forgotten; the perfect place for Seobaak to hide.

There wasn't the slimmest of chances that anyone would think to look for him here. Even so, Seobaak had taken extra precautions. He only went outside of his room when absolutely necessary, and made sure it was undetectable from the outside.

Inside, he had everything set up. Shoved off to one corner was a small stack of hay, which he used as a bed. On the other side of the room was a long desk with the various sticks, rocks, and feathers which he had collected from his walk in Battlebrook.

Accompanying these items on the desk there were several large feather pens, scrolls, beakers, skulls, a globe, and, of course, the small vial he had gotten from Acheron.

He began to regret leaving Acheron behind, he would have been a useful servant.

Oh well, he thought, staring at the items on his desk. He began to arrange them absentmindedly, first by size, length, color, as he thought about what to do next. He would need a disguise, obviously, if he were to go out in public.

He sighed and sat down on the pile of hay. He would begin his search tomorrow, he decided.
