Chapter 1: The night before

Ashe was tired, it was normal. She had just finished her work and was waiting for the bus to go home. "It's cold tonight" she thought for herself "Of course it's cold, it's January. What were you expecting? Summer weather?" she told herself while shanking her head. There were some people waiting at the bus stop, but no one had noticed her behavior, they were busy minding their own stuffs. Her train of thoughts were interrupted when the bus stopped in front of her, she got in and sat on the back. "The good thing about working the late shift is that there are always empty seats at this time, lucky me" spending the whole day walking around on her job was tiring, being able to sit down at least on her home made her happy.

As she opened the door to her apartment, she was welcomed into a dark and quiet room, she lived alone after all. She locked the door behind her and went straight to the bathroom so she could bath. After a nice bath and a hot meal, she was now laying on her bed, on her left hand she held the book "The planet Orbis". She already read it once, but she was looking through the book, analyzing the few pictures it had. "Mmh... the end of this book wasn't conclusive. It gives the feeling to be just the 1st book of a series." She put down the book and rolled to her side, after just a few minutes she had drifted to the dream world.

She often dreamt about absurd and weird stuffs. "That's how dreams are..." Dreams where nothing was clear, where at one moment she was somewhere and the other somewhere else. Where she couldn't scream or even if she tried hard, using her phone never worked. Where her punches and kicks made her limbs look like they were made of soft butter. She would often talk about her dreams with her brother, he would say whenever he dies in his dream he would wake up. For Ashe it was different, whenever she died in her dream, she would simply reappear or take over where someone else was in her dream. "Like if I respawned, maybe I'm playing too many games."

It didn't feel long before Ashe started opening her eyes again. Coming to her sense slowly she noticed, she wasn't laying down but sitting while holding her head with a hand. She looked around the unfamiliar room. "Everything is made of ice... Am I still dreaming?" she said to herself in a low voice and sleepily closed her eyes again, it wasn't the first time that Ashe was so tired that she dreamt about sleeping.

It was cold but it wasn't bothering her like usually, she couldn't stand cold at all and usually wore many layers of cloth during winter. After a few minutes the girl opened her eyes again just to see the same ice room from before. Now fully awaken she noticed she was sitting on an ice throne, her cloths were weird, and she didn't feel herself. "This isn't a dream... it isn't fuzzy like a dream, I can think straight and everything is clear unlike my dreams." She looked down to her hands, they were so slender, pale and mostly ice cold. She felt a sharp pain on the nape, greater than any pain she felt thus far. The pain made her dizzy to the extended of passing out.
