Sa sofa ako natulog while mama slept in the other room checking Beatriz every hour while I stayed here. Her temperature dropped to 36 kaya nakahinga ako ng maayos. Napahimbing na yata tulog ko kaya ginising ako ni mama.
"Thirdy.. wake up. May pasok ka pa. 5:30 na." sabi ni mama
I check the clock and it was 5:30 am already. napahikab ako at tiningnan na mahimbing siyang natutulog.
Mama looked at me and smiled. "I'll take care of her. Sige na at may laro pa kayo mamaya." sabi niya. I was hesitating to leave but I had to. I stood up and kissed my mom. Lumapit ako sa kama at tiningnan ulit siya habang natutulog.
"I'll be back" I whispered and kissed her head.
Mainit pa din siya and sabi ni mama it went back to 37. On the drive home and to school all I thought about was her. I just want to finish everything and take care of her.
Sa class, practice, and even before the game I was serious. I wasn't distracted or anything. Napansin naman nila iyon kaya hindi na nangulit. Before the game started I received a message from my mom that her temperature didn't drop and is still at 37. It got me worried but I had to focus. She also told me Dani visited before she went here and they're watching live nalang sa laptop.
I told her to update me even though I was playing.
We won and I scored 19 points. I saw Dani running to me.
"Kuya! Tara na" pagmamadali niya
"What? Why?" Naguguluhan kong tanong.
"Mama brought ate Bea sa hospital" nagpaalam na agad ako kay coach.
I read mom's messages half running to my car.

Thirdy.. were bringing her to the hospital. Her temperature suddenly rose up to 39.
Their family doctor is with us.
"Miss, anong room si Isabel Beatriz de Leon?" tanong ko sa nurse station pagdating sa hospital na pinagdalhan.
"140, sir." sagot niya and I said thank you. I was half running.
"Kuya, kumalma ka nga." dani said half running beside me. Hindi ko na siya pinansin.

"de Leon, Isabel Beatriz" nakasulat sa card sa labas ng pinto. kinalma ko ang sarili ko. I was still wearing my jersey except nagpalit ako ng T-shirt.
Dahan dahan kong binuksan ang pinto. The first person I saw was my mom. She was fixing something sa table.
"Ma.." sabi ko at napalingon siya.
"Thirdy.." she said. Looked at me and then at Beatriz. "She's sleeping" sabi niya nang makapasok na kami. I kissed my mom, so did dani.
"What happened??" nagaalala kong tanong.
"She was just watching and fell asleep. Nagulat nalang ako she was shaking and then checked her temperature naging 39" paliwanag niya.
I grabbed the chair and placed it beside her bed. I looked at how pale she was and her puffy eyes.
"Her temperature mama?" I asked.
"39 pa din" my mom softly answered. "Tumawag sakin si det kanina and said hinihintay nalang nila flight nila." tumango ako.
"Go home, ma. Pahinga ka muna. Ako na bahala dito." sabi ko sakanya while looking at the sleeping beatriz.
"I'll drive her home, kuya." sabi ni dani and I nodded. "Do you need anything para sa pagbalik ko?"
"Clothes please," I said and she nodded. I kissed my mom and dani goodbye. umupo ako sa upuan and held her hand.
"T-thirdy.." a soft weak voice called. "Third-y.." Nakatulog yata ako. I saw beatriz with her eyes half open napatayo ako sa pag alala.
"Are you okay? may kelangan ka ba? ano masakit sayo?" sunod sunod kong tanong. She shook her head. Napabuntong hininga ako.
"What is it?" tanong ko.
"Thirdy.." a hand rested on my shoulders. I saw tita det. Hindi ko sila agad napansin doon.
"We didn't wake you up because you looked tired. Did you come from a game?" she asked.
tumabi ako para siya ang makalapit sa anak.
"Ah.. yes, tita." sagot ko.
"Don't you want to rest?" she asked.
"Im fine, tita." she smiled and nodded. She replaced me and sat on the chair kung saan ako nakaupo. Sumandal ako sa dingding and I watched her talk to her mom.
maya maya may kumatok.
"Tita?" I saw Aj. yeah, Aj Arcilla from the amft.
napalingon ako kay beatriz. naabutan ko ding nakatingin sakin si tito elmer.
"Aj? come in." he nodded as a courtesy when he passed by me. He greeted tito, kuya and tita then placed the flowers on the side table and some fruits.
"Those are beautiful. Thank you" sabi ni tita.
"How is she?" he asked.
"Not doing well. But she's negative on dengue so that's a relief." he crossed his arms and nodded.
"What did the doctor say?" he asked.
"It's a normal fever but her temperature stays at 38-39. We're just praying it drops to 37." pag explain ni tita while combing Bea's hair.
"I'll get some stuff at home. Loel, come with me. Will you be fine here for a while?" tanong ni tito elmer kay tita det.
"Im fine." sagot ni tita. "Nandito naman si thirdy."
I didn't have to look at aj to know he was looking at me.
"Uh.. I can stay here for awhile to help tita det, tito. I think thirdy needs some rest?" napatingin ako kay Aj and then at Beatriz.
I nodded. "Yeah.." sabi ko.
Tito elmer looked at me before nodding.
"Tita.. Aj.." pagpapaalam ko.
