I stayed at the hospital for 3 more days. Hospital food sucks talaga. Mabuti nalang they bring me good food. My parents had to finish something sa cashier kaya we were still here.
"Do you want anything?" asked Aj who was waiting with me and kuya bago ma discharge.
"Wala... I'm okay" I said and smiled awkwardly. Tumango nalang siya. My brother was looking at me like I'm some puzzle to be solved.
"What?" tanong ko.
"You're not sick na diba? bat ang tamlay mo?" he asked. Umiwas ako ng tingin. Masyado siyang observant.
"Ha? Im not kaya."
"yeah right" sabi niya at tumayo na. I looked at Aj who was silent while listening. Maya maya dumating na sila mom and dad kaya nakaalis na din kami.
"Take care and thank you, beibei!" paalam sakin ng nurse kong si ate maya when we passed by her station. I saw the paper bag I gave her earlier as a thank-you gift.
Aj just made sure I was home before going. Pagdating namin sa bahay my teammates were waiting for me.
"Ate bei!" salubong ni Jules when she saw me enter the house.
"Hey.." bati ko sakanya and she hugged me. "Anong meron?" I asked looking at my mom.
"Wala naman. We thought you'd like their company after a few days at the hospital." my mom said and smiled. Tumango lang ako and umakyat na sila.
"Enjoy, Bea," my dad said kissing me on my forehead and went upstairs.
They sure do know how to cheer me up. Sobrang sad sa loob ng hospital while lying on my bed. I hate it. Tapos may hindi pa bumalik. I know, I have visitors naman pero diba? I mean... it's not like he couldn't give me the time of day.
I rolled my eyes just thinking about it.
"How are you ate bei?" Dani asked pagpasok ko sa dining area. They were all seated and eating parang kanina pa sila naghihintay.
"I'm fine naman. Kanina pa kayo?" tanong ko sabay upo sa tabi ni ate kim.
"Not really." sagot ni Kat.
I called manang and asked them to cook pasta and burgers.
"Pumayat ka ate bei" sabi saken ni pongs
"Oo nga eh. Hindi na huggable" ate Kim said while hugging me sideways.
"Hospital food sucks and I don't have the appetite din that's why."
"At least you're okay na. That's what matters naman." sabi ni pongs and they agreed naman.
We just ate and did some catching up. It was almost 9 pm and paunti unti din silang nagpapaalam para umuwi. Dani, Jules, Ponggay, and Kat nalang yung natira.
"Wait, Manong's there na." napatingin ako kay dani and then sa mga kasama. I heard a honk signalling nandyan na nga sundo nila.
"Manong... Kiefer?" I immediately looked at pongs after she asked that.
"Thirdy. Nasa ilo-ilo si manong." sagot ni Dani sabay type something sa phone.
"ahh.." pongs nodded slowly sabay tingin saken kaya umiwas ako. They were preparing to leave na.
"Uh... Dani.. can I t-talk to Thirdy first?" I nervously asked.
"Ah yeah ate bei. I'll just go to the restroom first." she said tumango ako at naglakad na palabas ng bahay.
When I opened the door I saw thirdy leaning against his car. Hindi niya yata ako napansin.
When I was near the gate na, dun niya lang ako napansin. Nagangat siya ng tingin at saglit na tumitig sakin.
"Tagal naman ni Dani.." he awkwardly said and fake laughed while scratching his neck.
"it's okay.." sabi ko and I stood in front of him.
"I have a question.." mahina kong sabi but enough to be heard. Sandali niya ako tiningnan before turning serious.
"What is it?" tanong niya.
"Why.. why didn't you visit? I was at the hospital for days pero but... I waited for you, you know.. and you forgot your stuff kaya I thought you'd look after me pero hindi ka na bumalik?"
I guess he was not expecting that kasi nahalata ko yung shock sa face pero nawala din agad.
I waited for his answer.
