I leaned against the counter as I watched everyone spread out around my living room. I smile and shake my head; dinner had gone surprisingly well. No one talked about club politics and everyone seemed to be polite to each other.

I shake my head as I went to clean the dishes, trying not to feel exhausted. I could've done them in the morning, but I knew I'd have to do them, then take Joy to her doctor appointment.

"Hey, is it okay if I help," Coco asks me, "You wash, I dry?".

I smile softly and hand him the towel I had been using to dry, "Thank you, Coco.".

"You're most welcome," Coco hummed softly, "Hey, would you want to go get coffee? My day off is in a week and I kind of want to get to know you as a friend.".

~Coco's POV~

I was quiet as I waited patiently for Izzy's answer. Dinner had gone well and I knew by Izzy's eyes that she felt thankful for the pleasant way it had gone. By the time the dishes were done and everyone had left; Izzy, myself and her daughter were the only ones left.

Izzy carefully picked her daughter up and gently swayed her back and forth. She hummed softly and rubbed the little one's back, "I didn't properly introduce you to her, Coco. This is Joy; she's my whole heart and world. I'd give up everything to keep her safe.".

I listened, my mind forgetting about my question at the moment. She had said what I had been thinking, something that resonated deep within my soul. It still worried me that she was so guarded, so broken.

Izzy then looked to me after a moment, a soft blush on her cheeks. I felt my cheeks heat up a little as I finally remembered my question to her. I take a deep breath and search her eyes for the slightest hint of worry.

"Of course, Coco," Izzy softly said, "I'd love to go out for coffee with you.".

"I'll be over by ten," I tell her, feeling happiness flood my veins.

Would a little coffee with a potential friend turn to something more?
