Ever since Richie refused to give up the hammock, Richie and Eddie share the hammock every day. They persuaded the rest of the losers to let them combine their ten minutes to a total of twenty minutes.
Usually, The losers would tease them about it, always saying that they just share it so they can be together. Eddie would always freak out, saying a bunch of shit that no one really listens to.
On the other hand, Richie would always take offense. Little things that that mattered to him. It bothered him that Eddie didn't feel the same way about him.
It was the weekend, and all the losers were at the clubhouse. They would always gather there to just hang out and be around each other.
It was Richie and Eddie's turn for the hammock, everyone rolling their eyes at the two boys as they fought their way to the hammock.
"If you g..guys agreed on sharing it, why the h..h..hell do you guys fight f..for it?" Bill said
Eddie was on top of Richie, trying to shove him over so he had some room. They stopped fighting to look over at Bill. Their cheeks both burned red as they realized what position they were in.
"Eddie get the fuck off me!" Richie yelled, trying to diffuse the tension.
Eddie got off of him and moved over, their legs tangled together. The rest of the losers just groaned, annoyed at how both of the boys were acting. Though that was typically how they were on a daily basis.
"So is no one gonna say anything about this tension between these two, or are we just gonna let it go until next time, as usual," Bev said, provoking the two boys.
Beverly was always paying attention to the two. Always catching them staring at each other for way too long, or the way Eddie and Richie are always near each other at all possible times. You can call her a creep, but she has been called worse. She wouldn't care if people called her a bitch if that meant she could see her two friends together and happy.
Hours passed and everyone got their turn on the hammock, and when everyone went once, they got to go twice, and then a third time. They talked about school, their futures, (as always) and anything that interested them.
It was getting late and everyone was starting to leave one by one. Mike was the first to go, due to him living on the outskirts of Derry. Then Stan, Ben, then all that was left was Bill, Bev, Richie, and Eddie. Richie and Eddie were in the hammock now, Eddie almost falling asleep.
"Hey g..guys, I think I'm gonna s..s..start to go, m..my da..dad wants me home earlier now," Bill said, picking up his backpack and heading for the latter.
"Aww come on now, the party is just starting!" Richie exclaimed, getting a pack of cigarettes out.
"If you light those here Richie, we will burn to death," Eddie said, stealing the pack from Richie's hand and putting them in his pocket. "You wanna smoke, go do that outside, but don't call for me when you die of lung cancer."
Richie turned his head to look at Eddie, surprised that he took his cigarettes and at his harsh words.
"Yeah, I am g...going to go. Bye B..Bev." Bill said, waving to Beverly as he climbed up and out of the clubhouse.
Beverly waved back at bill, and then looked over to the trash mouth and the asthmatic, who were now fighting for the pack of cigarettes.
"Give them back eds!"
"You're going to die!"
"YOUR gonna be dead to me in a second."
"I'm trying to protect yo-."
The hammock turned upside down with the boys in it, as they fell on each other on the ground. Richie was on top of Eddie, crushing him to death.
Eddie was squirming, trying to get Richie off of him, but decided it was a lost cause.
Beverly just laughed to herself and then moved to pick up her backpack. If she wanted her little plan to work, she's got to do it now.
Richie got off of Eddie and moved his hand for Eddie to grab, but he just swatted it away and got up by himself. Beverly watched from a distance as she went to go climb up the latter, trying her best to not draw any attention to her.
While Beverly was trying to leave the boys were busy arguing with each other, about whether or not Richie will get cancer if he continues to smoke. Eddie is the one winning the argument.
"And that, my friend, is why you shouldn't smoke," Eddie concluded, laying back down on the hammock.
"Aww, just friends, Eddie spaghetti?" Richie said, laying down next to Eddie and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Eddie jerked his head over, scrunching up his face to try to look disgusted, even though he wished that Richie would kiss him again.
"First of all, beep beep Richie. Second of all, don't call me that." Eddie said moving back to cuddle into Richie's side. His face was red, but even though it was dark in the clubhouse, he hoped Richie couldn't see how hard he was blushing.
"Oh come on you love it." Richie moved his arm over to hold Eddie by the waist, so they were cuddled up together.
Now both of the boys were as red as tomatoes, now too embarrassed to move.
Even though neither of them said anything, they both liked how they were, cuddled up together. They felt whole like they were meant to be.
They didn't even realize Beverly was gone, they were just in the moment together, both of them slowly falling asleep.
"Richie?" Eddie said, making sure Richie didn't fall asleep.
"Yeah, Eds?" Richie replied barely above a whisper.
"Don't call me that." Eddie said, but deep down he loved when Richie called him that.
He loved when Richie would call him all of those stupid nicknames that he thought up of on the top of his head. He loved when Richie would be so stupid, and y'all in those annoying British accents that he secretly loved. He loved everything about Richie. He wanted to tell him. He wanted to tell the world that he was in love with Richie Tozier, but the world wouldn't accept that.
He was scared that Richie didn't feel the same. He was scared he was just like everyone else in this god forsaken town. He also didn't want to jeopardize his friendship.
So instead Eddie said nothing, content with how they were right now, snuggled up in the hammock, falling asleep together.
