Oh Quick Note: I changed the pov from 1st person to 3rd person because this is a writing style I am much more comfortable with. Hope you don't mind! (This will make things a lot easier for me from now on) :D

When Ponyboy awoke, the sun hadn't even risen about the mountains. Instead, it was still a pitch black outside, the breeze merciful and cold flowed through his now destroyed window.

His body ached cuts and bruises feeling incredible sore although the initial pain of where they came from seeming to hurt less and less as his body sat atop of his comforter, listening to the silent sounds of the night.

Or what should have been silent sounds of the night, until Pony heard a crash downstairs. Although this should have initially sparked a flame of worry inside of the young boy, his arms ached too much to bear.

'It's probably just Soda spilling something- nothing to worry about...'  Pony thought, his brain already tiring out to fall back asleep once more. His eyes had just begun to close before another sound was heard, this one was a lot louder and longer than the first.

Ponyboy had no choice but to lift his head and strain his tired ears to listen from the noises coming from downstairs.

It sounded like a struggle. Groans and grunts, bumping sounds, feet shuffling, and even the occasional muffled word that would travel up into his ears.

Pony didn't have a choice; He pushed himself up and off of the bed ignoring the stumble in his feet as he shuffled his way downstairs.

The first sight he caught was 4 people who he most definitely didn't recognize standing in his house right in the center of the living room. The second thing that Pony noticed was Soda and Darry standing in front of them, each holding some kind of thing that Pony assumed they would be fighting with. Pony swallowed the knot in his throat, trying to breathe properly.

"What are you doing here?" He heard Darry's rough voice, he was still dressed, probably just getting off of his night shift. Ponyboy could feel how tired he was even though he was so far away.

"Look- just give us some cash and some food and we wont hurt cha'" Pony recognized the voices from another gang his had fought a long time ago. But none of the others would be even remotely close or awake to help out. It was just him and his brothers against the world, and yet, he felt frozen in place like he couldn't breathe.

Usually, no matter how scared or frightened Ponyboy was, he would rush down to help his brothers fight off the offenders. However, after looking at the face of one of the people inside his heart seemed to lodge right into his throat.

He looked just like the boy Johnny had killed almost a year ago. The memory of it stung his heart like a thousand bees. His jaw clenched harder and harder, not willing to let go to make even a single sound. The light flickered on and off, sending shadows flying onto the walls over and over.

It was in these shadows Ponyboy could see Johnny raise his hand with his switchblade and stab it into the boy who was drowning him. Over and over again until the light finally remained stable.

His legs began to shake along with the rest of his body. Every heartbeat that slammed into his chest beat on his ribcage for sweet release. His saliva welling up inside of his mouth, not daring to swallow.

Everything seemed to be frozen in time except for the short and quick breaths of all of the people in the room.

Then it came crashing to life.

One of the intruders came rushing forwards, to their dismay as Sodapop bashed a heavy object over their head. Pony didn't even have time to look before he was crouching behind the stairwell, a shaking hand cupped over his mouths as his breaths came out heavy and ragged. He was just too scared.
