Will's POV:
Dinner with Kensley had been amazing. I genuinely was so distracted by thinking about it all day out on the field, and it felt great to let her know that. Even though I didn't know her extrememly well, I just had this intense feeling about her. From the moment I saw that ponytail, and she whipped that response out to me in the hospital room during Channing's birth, I just knew that she was something special.
Ever since dinner, we had been spending so much time together. I didn't care what we were doing, I just wanted to be with Kensely. She was on-call for the weekend and had a crazy schedule, but not being able to see her as much as I wanted to was made up for by constant texting. Tonight was Tuesday and she wasn't on call. We were going to have a "chill night" since she had basically been on for days in a row, which was totally fine with me. The plan was to cook her dinner, cuddle, watch a movie, and I finally wanted to kiss her. Even though we had been hanging out for a while, I was trying my best to hold back and be respectful. Though she had expressed her feelings of adoration for me, I wanted to make sure that Kensley didn't feel like I was taking things too fast. So I just hugged her a lot, and kissed her everywhere except her lips. I would plant soft kisses on her cheeks, her forehead, her nose, her chin, but I wouldn't kiss her on the lips. It was driving her crazy and I knew it, but I wanted for our first kiss to be genuinely special.
It was a bye-week for the Chevrons, so my schedule had been a lot lighter than normal. It mostly consisted of some light practices, along with ice baths, dry needling, chiropractic adjustments, and massages to keep my body loose. I had given my chef the week off, and ordered a set of "Eat Clean Bruh Meals" so that I would have something to live off of. The clean meals were delivered to my house weekly, and they were normally pretty good, but I knew that Kensely probably wouldn't want to eat that. I also wanted to impress her with my cooking skills, not with how well I could open a refrigerator. I tried to call Harleigh to see what I should make, but she texted me that she was at the doctor with Channing so I didn't push it. I googled "What to make your girlfriend for dinner" and the main thing I saw come up was pasta. Pasta, pasta, pasta... So I guess pasta it was going to be. As I scrolled the internet for recipes, I thought about how I had just typed in the word girlfriend without hesitation. I thought about how good it felt, but decided that maybe I should hold off on that until we at least had our first kiss.
I sifted through my kitchen to see if I had ingredients, Chef Bo usually kept it pretty well stocked. After browsing Food Network's website I decided to use Ina Garten's Weeknight Bolgenese recipe as time was running out and it was labled as easy. I needed ground siroloin, San Marzano tomatoes, heavy cream, basil, and some pasta. I wrote my list down and texted Kensley... "What's your favorite desert?" I was taken aback when I saw the typing bubbles come up on my iPhone. "I'm going to make dessert, don't you worry about it handsome!" "Okay. Are you sure?" I asked back. "Yupp. I kind of miss you" she said. My heart felt like it had skipped 1,000 beats. "Well I kind of miss you too, you'll miss me even more after I finally kiss you." I typed it out and hit send quick. Adding a heart faced emoji and squeezy eyes emoji right after. "haha we'll see about that, hope you kiss as well as you play football. Gotta go, just got paged." I smiled at the message, grabbed my list and headed off to the store.
