xoxoKensley's POV:
Things between J-dubbs and I had been heating up pretty quickly. I didn't want to jinx anything, but I has this innate feeling that things between us could go far. My day at work had been pretty slow surprisingly, and I was not on call for the night (praise!) so I sat behind the main desk waiting for time to pass. I could not wait for tonight, to just be able to hang out with Will, relax and eat good food. He said that he could cook, but little did he know I had the number to the pizza place on speed dial! I was in charge of dessert, which was a fairly easy task. At 4:30, I bolted out of work without stopping, and hopped in my car. I turned up Taylor Swift's Blank Space and started rocking out. When I got home, I fed Stella quickly, whipped up all of the ingredients for my homemade pound cake, threw it in the oven, and took a quick shower while it baked.
As dumb as it sounded, even though I wanted to have a chill night, I still wanted to look cute. I decided to throw on some leggings, a Chevron's shirt, my white converse, and put my hair up in the ponytail he seemed to like so much. As much as I was enjoying spending time with Jay, he was driving me absolutely insane by his refusal to kiss me. He was complimentary often which I appreciated, but physically he refused to kiss me on the lips opting instead for forehead, cheeks, shoulder, everywhere else... I wanted tonight to be the night. If he wasn't going to just go ahead and kiss me, I decided that I would have to initiate it, even if it scared the absolute beejeezus out of me.
After applying some light makeup, I walked out the door with my cake in hand.I had been to Jay's place a few times, but I was always wowed by how nice it was. His apartment reeked of the perfect blend of bachelor, modern, lived-in chic. I knocked on the door twice, and I heard the thick patter of his barefeet approaching the door, which in turn made my stomach quiver slightly. He opened the door and looked me up and down with a huge smile on his face. "Hey beautiful" he quirped. "Hey yourself." I smiled back. We stood in the doorway gazing at each other for what felt like the longest while. "What's in the container?" Jay asked being nosy. "You'll find out later if you eat all of your veggies." I joked as I walked into the kitchen, and set the cake down on the counter. Before I knew it, Jay picked me up and placed me on top of the counter. "I've missed you Kens." he breathed into my neck before kissing it. I grabbed his face in my hands, and kissed his cheek, "The feeling is completely mutual." I grinned back at him before hopping off the counter and into his arms.
"Whatever you are making smells amazing, I am so hungry!" I exclaimed. "Good, because I don't just make my famous bologense sauce for just anyone, just the special people in my life, aka myself." Jay retorted. I looked him over from the bar stool I was sitting in, he looked so delectable with his tight football butt poking out from his Adidas sweats, and a Chevrons muscle tee. His confidence as he cooked barefoot was comforting, and I soaked in every ounce of the perfection that was him as he stirrred the sauce in the pot. Music was playing from the corner of the kitchen where I saw his Beats by Dre Pill resting; I began to sing along to Coldplay's "Magic". I could feel Jay watching me from the corner of my eye, as I swayed back and forth to the song. I tutned my head, and our eyes locked, he reached out his hand and beckoned for me "C'mere." he said. I gave him a small smile and decided to just be in the moment instead of shaking my head no. He pulled me close to him wrapping one hand, around my waist, and using the other to cradle my head that was resting on his shoulder. "Call it magic, call it true. I call it magic when I'm with you." he began to softly sing the words into my ear. The song continued and we existed in that moment together, "And I don't, and I don't, and I don't, and I don't... No, I don't it's true. I don't, no I don't, no I don't, want anybody else but you." After he sang me those words, he pulled away from me a bit. "Would you believe me if I told you that I don't want to be with anyone else?" My eyes grew large as I stared at him. "Kens, what I want to know is if you'll be my girlfriend?" Jay looked sheepish and sweet, I stood silent. "Come on, I know you like me because you are wearing a Chevron's shirt, and you made me cake. And you're wearing a ponytail." he continued. "I'll know that you're in love with me when you wear my jersey number." Jay joked. I laughed, "Are you for real, we haven't even kissed." "I'm 100 percent serious, and I only kiss my girlfriends, and by the way I've only had two in my entire life, one lasting only three days in first grade." "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend. " I smiled up at Jay. "You're hilarious, how do you know that I'm going to wear your jersey number?" "I just do." Jay said before kissing my forehead.
I scrunched my nose up at him, "I thought you said you kissed your girlfriends!" "I do, but after I've fed you. I can't have you starving, and biting my lip because you think it's food!" I rolled my eyes and playfully swatted him on the shoulder.
(Update 4/)
"Did you just swat me?" he asked throwing his head back in laughter. "Maybe, maybe not." I responded coyly. He picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder causing me to shriek in surprise. "Say sorry!" Jay joked as he tickled me. "No, I won't give in." I said my voice faint because I was laughing so hard from his touch. "If you don't apologize, I won't kiss you." he warned. My breathing shallowed, dangnabit he knew just how to get me. He didn't know how much I wanted him to kiss me, to inhale his scent, and feel the sear of his lips on mine. I quickly kissed the back of his neck and pouted cutely, "No fair! Put me down so I can help you." He put me down softly, but not before pulling me to his side for a quick embrace.
As he tossed the pasta for our dinner into the boiling water, I made a salad. As I combined Romaine, mixed greens, red onion, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, feta, and avocado Jay watched me standing up against the counter. His gaze was tender, bringing a feeling of heat to my milk chocolate cheeks. "What?" I quirped gazing shyly in his direction. "You're just so beautiful is all. And you look super hot making that salad in your little Chevrons shirt. I see you're trying to impress the hometeam and it's cute." I grinned in his direction, and he continued. "Also, I am blown away by the fact that you agreed to be my girlfriend, and that we have a song." He smiled back not hiding his obvious enthusiasm.
We sat down to dinner, I was completely encompassed with us and our little bubble. We laughed so super hard telling each other about our most embarassing moments. "My dad, he would have really liked you." Jay said grabbing my hand. "You would have probably gotten along really, really well. Your sense of humor reminds me of him." I flipped his palm over on the table and gently stroked the inside of his hand with the pads of my four dominant fingers. "I' would have loved to meet him." I smiled back softly. Dinner was honestly amazing, not just because of the company but also the conversation.
In all of the time that he and I had spent together we had never opened up so much. Sure, there were lots of things that I thought I knew about him from spending time together, I knew that he and Harleigh had lost both of their parents. Their mother to an accident and their some years back due to illness, but I let him tell me on his own time and I didn't push it.
