Chapter 13
She caught her breath, buying time, thinking things through before leaping into the abyss. "Thank you, Jesus." Her voice was a squeak. God often answered her prayers but when HE didn't she stayed calm. Her thoughts blazed inward while she aligned her courage, faith and desire to see the thing through and help him.
She learned to ask God for help and accept HIS will in any crisis. When God created different outcomes other than her expectations, she learned profound spiritual lessons. The final result happened for her highest good and she went with the flow. It was hard. She was an obstinate and impetuous soul often resisting 'letting go and letting God.'
She wanted control and security. She feared surprises and hated drama. Throughout her mother's illness and the Vincent fiasco she learned patience and faith. Destiny was revealed in HIS time not in human time.
These thoughts raced inside her as she gaped at the apparitions floating towards the last bedroom at the end of the hallway.
He stopped at the door and waved her forward. "Come inside. I am whole only in there and we will talk." His form wavered as if his strength failed him. Seconds later both ghosts disappeared under the door.
"Wait for me!" She shot forward into the meat locker cold hallway. Goosebumps skied on her arms and the back of her neck tingled with warmth, signaling a spiritual presence. She heaved a sigh of relief. Her angels and guides surrounded her as they did during psychic readings, protecting her from evil, giving her the information to help others resolve their issues, find inner peace and trust in God.
The grandfather clock in the hallway struck eleven. She stood before the bedroom door and turned the doorknob. It was locked. Maureen flexed her arm muscles and pushed into the door. It stayed shut. She scowled.
She tried again. Nothing changed. Oh, how she wanted to ram the door with her head but sanity prevailed. She stopped and controlled her temper. She needed her head all in one piece.
She listened to the energy vibes inside the room. He wanted her inside. She repeatedly twisted the doorknob, the metallic noise staggeringly loud. The door remained closed. Did he want her in there?
"My sweet, I certainly do want you in here. We have much to discuss. Try again. My strength fails me. I cannot open it for you." Seconds later the dog scratched the door and barked his encouragement.
She slumped against the door, her hand resting on the doorknob. Good grief, encouragement from two ghosts, how delightfully insane. She howled with laughter at the weirdness of it all.
