Chapter 12- Is Anybody Ever Safe?

I ran upstairs and started shoving things in trash bags with Malikai helping me. Malikai stopping every now and then asking if I need this, needed that, but in reality, I don't even know anymore. I'm not prepared for what's to come.
As I was placing pictures in a box I felt a bursting pain in my chest. It felt like heartbreak but like a million stabs more. I turned to a wolf and I looked at Malikai, Utterly confused.

I howled. Bad idea. But I had to. Malikai looked at my eyes.

"You're eyes are Yin Yang. Somebody's died or injured badly close to death." He said in shock. He quickly pulled his phone out and tapped a few times as I was putting things in some of the bags so it was easier for my wolf.

"Thank god you answered. Do you know of anybody who could've died recently?" He spoke through the phone.
"Hello?"

I heard running up the stairs, four feet, kind of skipping steps, then Dales wolf bursts through the door. He rubbed heads with me saying hellos.

"It's good to know you're not dead" Malikai said nodding to Dale.

I heard whimpering downstairs near the window. I ran over to it and looked out with my fat paws on the windowsill.
Zack was next to a wounded wolf.

"Malikai I think it's.... Um.. Come down here." Zack said through a worried look towards me and Dale. Malikai scooted past me and jumped out the window.
They were muttering for maybe 5 minutes and then Malikai came back up.

"It's Ashley. That's Ashley. I'm sorry guys. But she's dying. That's why you're in wolf form. Your wolves can feel her death nearing."

"Does anybody know how she got injured?" Dale whined.

"No,  man, I'm sorry guys. You can say goodbye but she won't be able to talk back. Whoever or whatever did this to her broke her jaw." Malikai explained.
I jumped out of the window, Dale following behind. We lied down beside her motionless body the only thing is her breathing.

"Hey Ash. I'm so sorry I haven't payed much attention to you. I've been having to deal with My father, as you know as Ray, and my mom has been freaking out about me being safe at Malikai's. I didn't see you at graduation and I'm sorry. I feel so bad. We were supposed to be best friends, all 4 of us, but the attack and me not speaking to you, and now you're attacked. All of it." My wolf started crying. Then I howled. Again. Bad idea. Who knows who could've heard it.

3 more wolves came running into the scene then they changed to their human forms. Baxton, Micheal, and Tyler gave Zack questioned looks at the scene before them.

As soon as Dale nudged into Ashley's chest, and whimpered, her last breath was taken. Ashley changed to human form. Lifeless.

Dale and I changed back to human form and I had all the guys help me finish get everything from my room.

We were done in about a half hour and drove back to Malikai's place. I grabbed the bag with all my clothes and went upstairs into the bedroom to change into some sweatpants and a tanktop. I put my hair in a bun then walked down stairs not prepared for an unexpected group hug from the guys.

Everybody decided to stay the night which was really weird because all we're doing is watching a bunch of stupid movies and making fun of bad scary movies at Malikai's house. I wasn't paying any attention to the movies and just hoping to get texts from my mother. Suddenly I have this bad feeling in my chest.

I got up crying and ran to Malikai's room and locked it behind me. I couldn't stop crying. I don't know what's happening. I can't breathe.

I heard banging on the door.
One.

Two.

Three.

"Tsubaki! Open up! What's wrong baby girl. We're all here for you. All of us. Zack, Dale, Tyler, Micheal, Baxton, and me. Let us in. Please?" I heard Malikai say through the door.

I didn't say anything. Even if I tried it would come out as nothing. I can't breathe.

I heard footsteps going downstairs then a little while later come back up. I hid in the bathroom and bawled.

Suddenly Dale came into view. He sat down Criss Cross in the door way. I looked up at him and he then slid over to me with a worried look. He put me in his lap and just held me. He looked down at me and I opened my arms and as soon as he saw the blood covering my arms and wrist, he started crying.

Soon enough Malikai walked in and took me from Dale and hold him to just hang out in the room with the rest of the guys while he gave me a bath.
