Her void still lingered in the air, making Can wake up as if he could sense it in his sleep.
He looked around the room searching for her, but she wasn't there. He thought he was dreaming. She was just there locked in his arms, and now she wasn't there.
He then saw a letter on the coffee table in front of him with the beautiful engagement ring that he gave her placed right on top of it.
He rubbed his eyes, wanting to wake up from this nightmare, but the letter was still there, and she still wasn't.
He read the letter slowly, growing sadder and sadder with every line, as if he could literally hear her saying these words to him without him having the opportunity to even defend himself. He tore the letter into tiny pieces, refusing to believe that she left him for good with a piece of paper and the ring that she vowed to wear forever.
He picked up the ring in his hand and felt like he was losing the little sanity that was left in him.
"You promised you'll never take the ring off! You fucking promised! God help me!!!! How could you do this to me?!?!" He started shouting in the room. He felt the need to destroy every single thing that stood in his way, just like she destroyed him. He flipped the coffee table over and punched the mirror in his hallway. He ccouldn't feel the pain of his wounded hand bleeding all over the floor along with his wounded heart. He couldn't feel anything... he was completely numb.

He poured himself a glass of whiskey in a failed attempt to come to his senses. He just couldn't understand why she would leave him like that.
He felt like he had to call her. It was already 1 am, but he didn't care. He grabbed his phone, and that's when he saw the massage his friend had sent to him earlier about Monaco.
"Oh my god... she read this massage..." he said quietly to himself.

He tried calling her to explain himself, he wanted to tell her that he didn't make any plans of going to Monaco and that it was just a silly conversation between friends, but she didn't answer any of his calls. He left her one message after the other, first apologizing and begging her to come back, then getting angrier and telling her that's the last time he ever calls her again, and then blaming her for jumping into conclusions without giving him a chance to explain himself.
The more he thought about it, the more he grew frustrated with her actions. How could she break us over a stupid message without even asking me about it? He thought to himself.
He was so mad at her, he decided that he has to pick himself up and just move on because clearly she didn't want to be with him anymore.
He texted his friend saying that he will be coming to Monaco, without even thinking about the repercussions of his actions.

After long hours of misery and heartache, Demet finally managed to pick herself up from the cold marble tiles of her bathroom's floor. She decided to fly back to Bodrum. She needed to be surrounded by friends during this difficult time, and could use all the support in the world to help her get over Can. Just the thought of him made her cry in anguish, and she couldn't bear the thought of being in the same city as him, and not being able to see him.
She packed few outfits, made a quick phone call to arrange her flight, and never looked back. She needed to get him out of her mind. She had to.

Heavily intoxicated by his pain and one glass too many of scotch on the rocks, Can called his mom in the middle of the night to tell her that he's going to Monaco for the next several days.
"Can I can't believe it, you just came back from Italy. Son, what is going on with you?" She asked.
"Mom I hate her...I hate her!" He yelled at the phone.
"Calm down now. Who do you hate?" She asked quite confused.
"I hate her... I wish I would have never met her! She destroyed me, I'll never be ok! I'll never be ok!" He kept going feeling tears streaming down his face.
"I'm coming over right now." His mom said before she hung up.

Güldem arrived as fast as she could. She didn't say a word when she saw the condition of his apartment. She quickly grabbed a broom, and swiped the shreds of glass off the floor. She then tidied up the living room and asked Can to go and change his white tshirt. It was completely stained with his blood, a painful reminder of the massive hurt that her son was going through.
"Mom I can't take it off... It still smells like her... I can't..." he was crying in her arms like a child. He couldn't take the pain any more.
Güldem embraced him tightly and laid his head in her lap.
"I wish I could take your pain away. I know how much you love her. I know. But sometimes things happen for a reason, and maybe it wasn't the right time for you both to love." she said.
"You are both very young, very successful, people are just waiting for you to slip up and make mistakes." She continued.
"What have I done wrong? I keep trying to keep her happy but it's never enough... there's always something i do wrong, I'm always the one to blame right?!" Can said.
"As objective as I can be son, I have to tell you that I understand your point of view, but I also understand hers. You're engaged to be married and she feels like you're still not ready for the next step. You want to travel, you want to make yourself a world name, and it's okay, but you can't expect her to sit and wait for you forever. She is also busy, she also wants to build a future for herself. You have to be fair to her." Güldem gently stroked his hair and said.
"Mom I swear I want to marry her. I love her more than I love myself. I love her more than anything. I love her more than life... " he covered his eyes and said.
"Loving someone means being open and honest with them. But it also means being honest with yourself. I think your biggest mistake was rushing into engagement before getting to know each other better, and doing things that normal couples do like travelling together, and just spending quality time together." She said.
Can didn't respond. He fell asleep right in his mother's arms, praying to god to make him wake up from this nightmare.

Meanwhile Demet was on her way to Bodrum, desperately trying to leave her past behind, praying to god to give her the strength to get over the greatest love of her life.
