-??? POV-
I sauntered in, the regulars nodding vaguely in my direction, the newcomers, eyes wide with fear. The pale golden light of the lantern flickered illuminating my pale and slightly burnt face.

"Same room please" I whispered to the small barmaid and she nodded dully, handing over an old and rusty key. The pure white dragon followed behind me, growling at anyone who got to close to her snowy flank. Her sea-sick green eyes glared at the people staring as I started on the cracking stairwell, seizing up a little and crouching. She nudged me and I forced myself to take a few more steps, staggering into my room, my bed creaking under my weight. She purred worriedly and stared up at me, puppy dog eyes widening with anxiety.

"I'm fine," I said, sniffling as I looked at my desk. My walls were decorated with her scales that she had shedded as I couldn't put them anywhere else, and pictures of him plastered the walls. A boy who saved me from my mind, from the horrors of where I was, from... everything. I had my dragon yes, but she couldn't talk, ease me out, hug me, or do anything human at all really. I couldn't stop myself. Flashbacks to roaring heat, golden flames and a large black shape filled my already pounding head and I closed my eyes, but not before a large tear left my eyes. I needed to find him. I needed to go back. To go home. But where was home? I'd never had a proper home in my entire life. I don't know where to go when things get hard, when life threatens to crush me beneath its weight. And there was a proper home. And he was a proper friend. I started to feel empty and lost without him, he was like my compass. He always knew what to do and I just followed. I needed to find him again. And soon.
