"So, do you want to know the gender of your baby?" Dr. Kim asked.

"I kind of wanted to wait to hear the gender when I'm with Eli," I said.

"We can schedule another appointment to find out the gender," she said. "When is he going to be back?"

"Um, I'm not entirely sure," I said. "He's really busy with work and things like that. I had a dream that you put the gender in an envelope so that way we could look at it together."

"I can do that, let me go get an envelope from the front desk," she said.

Dr. Kim left the room and I sighed.

"I can't believe that Eli isn't here to find out the ender of the baby with me," I muttered.

"It's okay, he's going to be back soon," Henry said. "And then you'll be able to open up the envelope together."

I nodded as she came back, handing Henry an envelope.

"Well, that's all we need for this appointment, you can schedule another one with the receptionist," she said.

We set another appointment before leaving. On the way home, I felt a weird jerk in my abdomen. I frowned, resting a hand on my stomach in concern. It happened again. I felt the baby kick once or twice, but this wasn't that. It felt like a little spasm inside of me.

"What's wrong?" Henry asked as he looked over at me in concern.

"Nothing, I think the baby just has the hiccups," I said with a small smile. "I read that the baby can start hearing things outside of the womb during the second trimester. And during the last ten weeks they can actually understand things. It's supposed to help a lot with their speech as they grow up. They can even detect their mother's voice over the voices of other people. So, my little baby knows it's me when I talk."

"Oh, that's cute," Henry said. "I really didn't know any of that."

We got home, and he waved to Officer Jackson in the squad car before we walked inside. Adrianna was cooking when we walked in, a big smile on her face as she wore my pink apron, but there was something foul smelling in the air."

"I made lunch," she said. "And then I burnt lunch, so I ordered some food instead. I got some pasta, if that's okay with you."

"Anything is good because I am just starving," I said. "What kind of pasta? Please tell me that some of it is alfredo."

"Of course I got you some alfredo pasta," she said with a small chuckle.

"You know what I also want? Some white chocolate," I said.

"You hate white chocolate," Henry said as he got himself a plate of food.

"I know but I guess it's just one of those pregnancy cravings," I said. "I could really go for some right now. Do we have any of it?"

"No, I don't think so," he said. "You don't like it, so we never kept it in the house and you never bought it. I can go out later and pick you up some if you really want."

"Thanks, that would mean a lot," I said.

I pulled out my phone, giving Tanya a call.

"Hey, I'm sorry to bother but have you heard anything yet about Eli?" I asked. "Have you figured out anything new?"

"No, Emma, I'm sorry," she said. "It's been two weeks already, I've never had a case that has taken me so long before. But I really think I am starting to get a lot closer. I think I might be able to find him soon. I got close to tracing one of the emails. These people are tough, though."
