"Stop telling me that Eli is coming back because he never is," I said.
"Come on, Emma, be excited," Adrianna said. "Your first trimester is almost done now. Eleven weeks, almost a third of the way there. You're getting closer and closer to getting your baby."
I sighed quietly, poking at the food on my plate. I was really tired, and I've been in such a bad mood all day long, I wasn't completely sure why but I couldn't stop. Maybe it was just all of the hormones that were rushing through my body.
"How did that art thing go?" She asked.
"I made a hundred and fifty dollars," I said.
"Well, that's a good start!" She cheered. "Soon you'll be making millions with your art."
I sighed, staring down at my plate. I was really craving watermelon right now, I didn't want this cheeseburger. I wanted a big, juicy watermelon. The kind that'll dribble down your arms to our elbows if you aren't careful.
"I'm going to go paint," I stated.
I went to my arm room and set a blank canvas up on the easel, opening up the window to air out the room. I wasn't sure what I wanted to paint, I just knew that I wanted to. My hands seemed to move on their own, making angry streaks on the white canvas.
When I stepped back to look at my work, I saw an obscure figure that somewhat resembled a little bunny covered in blood. The outer parts were splattered with black paint, the entire thing was dark and violent. I broke down into tears, curling up in the corner of the room. I don't know how long I was there before Adrianna wrapped her arms around me. She walked me to the bathroom, filling up the tub before she helped me get undressed.
"You are completely covered in paint," she said.
She got me into the tub, scrubbing the paint off my arms and face. When she was done, she turned on some music and dimmed the lights. She left me alone, my sniffling quieting down. Eventually the lapping of the water calmed me down. I took a deep breath, standing up. I wrapped a towel around myself and turned off the mirror.
"Yeah, she really isn't doing so well," I heard Adrianna say as I pressed my ear against he door. "Of course I'm staying with her, Officer Jackson. Just tell me, do you have any good news for her? She could really use a pick-me-up and I feel so bad for her...okay, fine."
I walked out, changing into a t-shirt and sweatpants.
"So, what do you want to do today?" Adrianna asked.
"I am still not in the best mood, I'm sorry," I mumbled. "I just don't really feel like doing anything today. I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong. Maybe it's just the hormones."
Adrianna smiled gently, giving me a hug. She rubbed my back before pulling away.
"Is Officer Jackson on watch right now?" I asked.
"No, it's a different officer," she said. "He's nice, though. Seems tough."
"Good, I would want someone tough," I said. "So, there's no new news about Eli and where he's at?"
"No, Emmy, I'm sorry," she said softly.
"I'm tired, Adrianna," I said.
"Let's go take a nap then," she said.
"Not that kind of tired, I'm tired of this," I said. "I just want it to be over now. It feels like it's been forever now, two and a half months of just torture. Physical torture for him, mental torture for me. I'm just tired, I want it to be over, already. I want it to end."
"Come on, let's sit down and watch a little movie or something else to just keep your mind off things," she suggested.
We sat on the couch where she put on some comedy movie to lighten my mood. But my mind kept racing, I wasn't sure quite what to do. I knew I needed to say something to his fans that were still pestering me, so I finally decided to post a message to all of them.
