I yawned, waking up to Adrianna sleeping beside me in the bed. I got up, yawning and stretching. There was a knock and I frowned, going over to open the door, letting Henry and Officer Jackson in.
"Adrianna asked us to bring some groceries since you've been running low recently," Henry said.
Staying here recently has really helped me a lot. I really was starting to feel a lot better. There was something about being cut off from the rest of the world that made me relax a bit.
"Thank you, you can put the bags in the kitchen," I said.
They came in and dropped the bags down. They didn't stay long, giving me hugs before they left. I emptied out the bags and sat on the couch. Adrianna came out, still dressed in her pajamas like I was.
"I have decided that we are going to stay in our pajamas all day long today," she declared.
"That sounds amazing," I said. "It is exactly what I needed."
"Maybe we could do some nice yoga for relaxation," she added. "I'll search up pregnancy poses. We have to make sure what we're doing is safe for you."
The sudden thought made me remember that it was a possibility that I could have a miscarriage. There was a chance that I could lose this baby inside of me. Just the thought of that made me want to cry.
"Sweetie, what's wrong?" Adrianna asked.
"I-I don't want to lose this baby," I whispered.
"You won't," she said. "Dr. Kim told you the baby was doing great and all the tests were looking really good."
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"I don't know whether to do first or second trimester pregnancy poses," she said. "You're at your thirteenth week now, I guess that's, like, right in between. I'm going to look up second trimester pregnancies just to be safe."
We did yoga for a little while before eating breakfast on the patio. It was quiet and peaceful here, we were surrounded by woods and nature. It was almost easier to breathe being out of that house. Henry promised to go by everyday and make sure that everything was in order and no one broke in. There was a soft breeze, but the summer air kept it nice and warm.
"Emmy, we should give you a little makeover, let's cut your hair," she said.
"Oh, I don't know if I want to do that, I like my long hair," I said, running my fingers through my light brown hair.
"Come on, you would look so cute," she said. "Pretty please? Maybe a nice haircut would make you feel better. It could be somewhat like a nice start. A nice little refresher for you. And Eli is going to think it's so cute when he gets back."
"You know what, let's do it," I said. "It's just hair, it'll grow back."
Adrianna grabbed some scissors, carefully cutting my long brown hair.
"I've always loved your hair and how light it is, I've been jealous," she admitted. "You have such beautiful hair, Emmy. And if you wanted to dye it you wouldn't even have to bleach it first. I'm so jealous. We should dye your hair? I love the light chestnut, but don't you want something that has a little bit more pizzazz? You would look so cute with red hair, especially a dark red. You would look gorgeous, even more gorgeous than you already are."
"No, I don't think I want to dye it, I don't even know if it's really safe to dye your hair while you're pregnant," I said.
"Well, either way you still look gorgeous," she said.
Adrianna carefully evened out my hair, her cold hands gently brushing against my neck.
"Should we get a bag for the hair to put into the garbage?" I asked.
