Chapter 16

August

I woke up feeling like shit. I really messed up something good. I let a single moment ruin  what I had..shit I have to get Lyric back. She hasn't been answering my calls and messages, she doesn't want anything to do with me. I don't blame her though. I'm leaving New Orleans soon and getting back to business before things really do fall apart. I don't even know how my niggas are doing without me. But first I got to sort out this shit here.
I was currently sitting in the backyard smoking my blunt.
"Hey baby" my momma said as she walked towards me.
"Can I join you?"
"Ya sure ..let me finish this fast" she  sat down next to me as I crushed my blunt, it felt awkward smoking in her presence.
"Son you messed up real bad. And for sure you already know that. As a man you need to straighten this out and put Bria in her place..what happened anyways?"
"I got caught up in the moment with her and things happened. We were busy reminiscing about our past, I guess we both needed closure between us. Because all these years we just let things be"
"Do you love her or you just wanted to hit it"
"Momma please" I said laughing, I  swear she has no filter at all.
"Nah I'm over our thing. I really love Lyric and I'm gonna do everything I can to get her back. I mean she hasn't given it to me yet so a nigga was starving"
"I knew it...I could tell something was of with you..she did you dirty" we both burst out laughing. I loved it when things were like this  between my mother and I, I mean shit they should of been like this from the get go.
"August I'm sorry for the way I've treated you over the years. I'm not perfect and we both know that. I just let my own past and pain affect our relationship and I was at fault. I've already lost a son amd I don't want to lose another one."
"I gotchu mom, as long as we both trying to get to a better place, we'll be cool"
My phone rang..
"I got to answer this"
"Ok baby let me leave you to it. I love you Ok?"
"I love you too momma" and I immediately answered my phone
Me: what's up nigga
Will: yo where you at?
Me: my crib...whatchu want?
Will: well come through we chilling out here...oh shit I heard shit  was going down by your crib
Me: damn news travel that fast. Come pick me up and I want to pass by Bria anyways
Will: sure give me 5min I'll pull through
I dropped the call and walked back inside the house and got ready to leave.
"Bring some wine when you come back" Chandra shouted from the kitchen
"Damn girl what's the occasion?"
"Nothing I just want to let loose a lil"
"Well ok I'll be back" I left and Will was already parked outside my yard.
"Yo...you came alone" I said while getting inside the car
"Ya...I  left my niggas  at my place, so what really happened...you getting caught up between women now"
"Man I messed up..remmeber that night I left you guys at that party"
"Oh shit nigga you just went ghost on us"
"Ya ya well I met Bria and I ended up walking her home and things happened we smashed basically"
"Somehow I knew y'all would cross paths sometime..you can't run away from things like these."
"I guess so..I  want to straighten things out with her. Lyric really beat her ass that day"
"Damn...your Lyric with that tiny body"
"I was just as shocked I didn't know she had it in her"
We arrived at Brias crib and I walked up to her door step. I knocked a few times before she opened the door. The moment  she saw it was me she tried shutting the door and I stopped her quickly.
"Bria please..."
"What do you want August"
"Just let me in please.. We need to talk"
"Talk about what you made it very clear the other day...just leave"
"I'm sorry about what happened...but just let me in...please"
"Sure you have 5minutes"
I walked in and didn't even want to sit, we both just stood inside looking at each other.
"Your time is running out you better start talking"
"Can we sit down"
We walked to her sofa and she sat at the far end. Damn she didn't even want to come close to me.
"I'm sorry things went down like that. I did you wrong and I was disrespectful towards you. The other night we both were caught up in the moment  and I guess the emotions got the best of us"
"August I told you how I  felt. I opened my heart and you just threw it in my face"
"But Bria you knew I have a girl, I told  specifically before I walked you home. And not to mention you came with an attitude to my place. You knew my girl would be there, what did you expect? "
"August whatever man...at the end of the day we both participated and you hurt my feelings"
"I'm sorry I really am. But I love Lyric and I want to close this chapter with you..we both needed the closure and I think it's about time we both moved on "
"Ya sure. I really appreciate your apology...we can put things in the past" I came closer and hugged her. If it was another girl I would have never wasted my time. But we've had history I owe her that much.
"Well let me get going..I'll  see you around"
"Let me walk you to the door"
We hugged for the last time and said our goodbyes. I walked to the car and Will was watching amazed.
"Whatchu staring at "
"I did not expect you two to hug... I guess it went well"
"Ya I just let her know what it is ..now I just need to fix things with my girl"
I was leaving New Orleans tomorrow.
