Levi's POV
It's funny how Eren was so... so excited to see his little brother- only to see it become a girl. The face of disappointment when he saw his half baby sister, and it wasn't what he wanted. But once my daughter was in his arms, he gleamed brightly. He didn't understand the terms of what it means to be a 'half-brother,' but it was cute to see him interact with his sister.
"What's her name?"
Hanji and I looked at each other and smiled. We knew exactly what to name her: "Iris Isabella Zoe Ackerman."
"Really? Iris is her name? So pretty... I wanna protect her!" Eren gasps and closes his mouth before whimpering a few words. "Sorry... I shouted..." Iris began to shuffle in his arms after he rose his voice. Just as a precaution, I took her carefully and back into my arms.
"It's alright, Eren..." Hanji says, patting the space next to her. "Come sit next to Mommy, and we can say hi to her together. You can also tell her about everything you wanna do with her. I'm sure she would love it."
Eren smiles and crawls up to Hanji, sitting next to her. I stared down at Iris, seeing her brown eyes staring at me. She coos gently, making me bring a smile to my face. All my life... I've waited to have my own kid... and here she was. My Iris...
"Hey, I'm gonna take Iris out for a bit." I say softly, cradling my child in my arms. "Sorry, I just... I just want to have a moment with her. Is that okay, Eren?"
"Uh huh! I don't mind, Levi!" He smiles so brightly when I walked outside.
Just slowly, I walked around with the tiny baby in my arms... how precious she was... "Levi." I looked up and saw a familiar face- and immediately, I wanted to punch him. I growled gently, trying to keep my baby from crying.
"What do you want, Erwin?"
"I just want to see Hanji and my son... you would let me, correct?"
"Like I would." I then pulled Iris close to my heart, thinking that Erwin would put her in danger. "She doesn't love you, and I'm glad to say that we're all happy together. Even Eren loves his baby sister. He doesn't need you. Hanji doesn't need you."
"Let me see them!"
"No. Just leave us, Erwin."
He sighs heavily, shaking his head. I couldn't believe that he would come when Hanji just gave birth to our kid. His voice then lowered gently, almost seemingly hurtful. "Please..."
"When I say no, it means no. Maybe that's why Hanji hated her relationship with you. Just let her be happy for once."
"You forced her to cheat- didn't you? Stole my love away. We were happy- we had a son together! After you came to her, I lost my wife, my son, and now... I lost everything. Please, just... one second. I want to see her again..."
"No." I then turned around, sighing heavily. "I'm gonna propose to her, and we're gonna be a family that was supposed to happen. They're my family now... and I won't hesitate to kill you if you come near Hanji, Eren, or my daughter. So stay away."
Walking away, I sighed softly and holding Iris in my arms. Erwin didn't deserve it all. He stole everything... my daughter cooed gently, like she was telling me not to worry. When I looked down, she was just like Hanji.
"L-Levi?" When I looked up from Iris, Eren was looking at me weirdly and gasped when he saw Erwin. "D-Daddy..."
"Eren, it's fine- let's go back to your mom, okay? I think Iris wants to sleep with her momma now. And I didn't forget that you wanted to speak to Iris. Actually, can you be careful and take Iris to your mom? I'll get you all doughnuts."
He gasps and nods, "I'll be very careful! I wanna protect my sister!"
"Good." Carefully, I placed Iris in his arms and watched him slowly walk back to Hanji's room.
After he left, I told the nurses to move Hanji to a different room because I feared of a dangerous person was lurking. They nodded and told me the room they would move her; I left to grab half a dozen of doughnuts.
Upon my return, I saw a squirming infant in her little bed. Hanji and Eren were curling up next to each other on the bed. Iris cooed gently when I walked in- and after I put the doughnuts down, I picked up the tiny child.
She coos softly, looking at me with her hazel eyes and messy brown hair. Just like her mother. Her tiny fists were up in air, all big and chubby. She smiles softly, cooing. I cradled her gently- she never cried when I had her in my arms.
"Shh... let's go for a walk outside of the stuffy room. Mommy and older brother slept through everything, huh? Well, Mommy deserves that sleep."
Doctors and nurses were swarming around as I walked with Iris. She coos gently, and I went to an open area that had a beautiful view down to the busy, nature center. How quiet it was in that little area...
"Iris... as you probably know, I'm your dad. I'll be a bit honest... I'm sorry I didn't marry your mother soon enough. As a result, you have an older half-brother. It's not what I wanted. I wanted to have a full family, but it gives me great joy to know I will have a fantastic daughter like you. I know that Eren would be a great older brother- him being half your brother or not, he'll protect you. And your mother- no words can express how great of a mother she always was. My little flower... Iris my love, I'll be the best father as I can. That... that I can promise you."
