The guards quickly apologized to the little girl and continued their walk to the suspect's room. Zoe shifted her gaze back to me, a smile formed on her face and she held a tray with cookies, probably made by her.

"Hi Rachel!" She enthusiastically greeted and handed me the tray. I gladly accepted it, of course.

___________

It turned out that the girl we thought was the witch, wasn't the witch. Amazing. She was innocent. That means, the witch is still on the run, doing witch stuff and shit like that.

This happened two weeks ago and unfortunately, we still haven't found her. There are so many problems that need to be solved, yet so little time.

But one the bright side, the cookies that Zoe baked for me were delicious. Talking about food and stuff, Violet and Evan planned some sort of family dinner tonight at Evan's place. It's not anything big and fancy, it's just me, Violet, Lucas, Evan and their mom. And I invited Zoe too because I felt like we've gotten a lot closer the last few weeks and she was like a little sister to me.

After dressing up in something fancy but at the same time comfortable, I went downstairs to help Lucas and his mom set up the table.

Violet's voice could be heard from the kitchen. She wasn't whispering but neither talking at a normal volume. I couldn't help but hide behind a wall and listen to their conversation.

"She keeps waking up during the night and she dreams about something, she doesn't want to tell me anything. Then, in the morning, she acts weird and distant. I'm worried..." She was talking to Zoe and Evan.

"I think you should just leave her alone. Don't push her to tell you anything she doesn't want to. Wait and maybe she will come to you and tell you everything." Everyone could say that Zoe was mature for her age, and that is not a bad thing at all. I'm glad she's sticking to my side.

I walked in the kitchen, pretending I just came from upstairs and was busy with something on my phone. Not to be rude, I put it in my pocket when I arrived in front of the sink. Zoe figured out I heard everything, made a hand motion and I understood she wanted me to bend down at her level.

"You know they care about you." She whispered, the sound of the water running from the faucet covering her voice even more.

"I know, but I don't want them to get involved in any of my problems." I walked over to the sink, wanting to help with the dishes.

"Just be careful not to push them away." Zoe walked towards the oven to check if the chicken was done or not. I shifted my attention to the dishes, not replying.

______

Each of us was seated at the table, eating the delicious homemade food. No one found a subject to talk about so the awkward silence was dominating the atmosphere. Just then, Lucas abruptly stood up, his hands hitting the table creating a loud bang.

"I'm done with all of this bullshit! Why won't you let me help you Rachel, huh?! I'm sick and tired of this hell!" Everyone looked scared at him, yet I stayed calm, knowing that if I just shut up, he'll eventually calm down.
"Why won't you say anything?! I own you! You are my mate and I'm your alpha, and that's final! Now just obey me and everything will be fine!

"Lucas please calm down-" I tried to rationally solve everything but he interrupted me.

"And what the fuck is she doing here?! She is not part of our family and never will be! Get her out of my house!" He pointed at Zoe.

Excuse me, what?
