(WARNING: TRIGGER AND SUICIDE AT THE END- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.)
"No, Lawliet-kun."
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"Nope."
"Pretty please with a strawberry on top?"
You sigh and look at the pouting boy, his dark eyes begging. A sigh of defeat escapes your lips as you nod, "Alright, fine."
"Yay! You're the best!" He laughs as he gets his jacket on.
Rolling your eyes, you reply, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." Once your jacket is on, you turn to the ravenette, "You ready?"
"Ready." Lawliet nods as he takes your hand, pulling you out of the building. "Would you like to stay at my home for an anime marathon tonight?"
"Sure. Got nothin' better to do with my friday nights anymore."
"Awwe, don't be that way, bae."
"What? It's true. I don't have ladies night on a friday anymore, my boyfriend during the week and now I work a case on Sundays and weekdays."
"Well this is how I've lived for the past few years, deal with it bae."
"But but but... Fine, boo."
Ding-ding!
"Ahh, if it isn't my favourite customers! What can I get you, [Y/N]-chan and Ryuzaki-san?" The elderly lady behind the counter asks. She has silver hair that's always tied into a pony tail, big brown eyes and an aged face, which is expected for a fifty-eight year old woman. She wears an apron covered in flour and other things, underneath the mess a nice yellow apron with white polka dots to go over her white shirt and brown trousers.
Lawliet grins as he points to several things, "I'll have that. That. That. That. Uhh, that. That, that and that."
"Right away, my boy!" The lady, Miko-san, smiles as she puts them into a box.
You shake your head as you nudge him, "You're gunna get a cavity one day."
"Psh. I brush my teeth four times a day, I'll be fine." He winks and smirks.
"Here's your cake, Ryuzaki-san. Should I put that on your tab?"
"Yes, thank you. I'll see you tomorrow, Miko-san!"
"Goodbye dears!"
The cold air hits you both as you walk out, the winter's frost surrounding you both. Snow crunches below your feet- it had gotten a lot colder in the months you had been working with Lawliet since... The Light incident. A black velvet wavers above, delicately embezzled by the gentle sparkle of the stars. It was a quiet night, not many were out at this time, silent too.
"Want some?" Lawliet gestures to the bag.
Chuckling, you shake your head, "When we get back, maybe."
"Suit yourself." He shrugs and takes a bite from a piece of vanilla cake.
Couples dot the streets, holding hands, laughin and joking... It was sweet. The street is decorated with lights, baubles, tincel... That's right, it's almost Christmas: December 23rd to be exact.
"Y'know..." Lawliet suddenly said, "About seven years today, we had our first Christmas together."
"Yeah... My mom was helping at Wammy's and brought me along. You were the cute little awkward boy in the back that spoke to no one." She smiles.
He chuckles, "No one but you, anyway." Suddenly he looks to the ground, "I'm sorry about your mom..."
~Flashback~
"Mom! Where's my bag?" You call out, searching for her.
Silence.
Raising an eyebrow, you open her bedroom door, "Mom...?"
~End of flashback~
"Yeah... Well, that was years ago. I'm fine now." Weakly, you smile at him,
Lawliet nods, "Of course you are. You're strong and independant."
"...It gets hard to be, sometimes." You mutter suddenly, eyes locked on the floor.
The ravenette looks at you and weakly smiles, wrapping his arm around your shoulder, "I'm here if you need me... You know that, right?"
"I know... Thanks Lawliet-kun." Planting a small kiss on his cheek, you smile.
As he grins, he unlocks the door, "No a problem, m'lady." He takes your hand, pulling you to the sofa. He throws a blanket over you both and puts Naruto on.
This boy truly knows you too well.
~Flashback~
"...Mom..?" You open her door and freeze. Blood was leaking from the bathroom door, a note on it saying "I'm sorry." Sloely, you approach the door and swallow the lump in your throat before opening the door. There, your mother's lifeless body lay in a tub of her own blood. Mascara had smeared across her cheeks from her eyes, foam leaking from her mouth. Beside her, a bottle of empty pills lays, some stray ones dotting the floor... A razor clutched into one of her limp hands, laced in the crimson that kept your mother alive.
She had committed suicide- leaving your thirteen year old self alone as your father left when you were six...
You were alone.
