Rounding the corner, Haechan pulled onto the street his ex-boyfriend lived in. Running his hands through his hair nervously, he took a deep breath and stepped out of the car.
Approaching the door, he knocked twice hesitantly and cleared his throat. When Jeno opened the door, Haechan’s somewhat calm demeanor vanished. His shoulders slumped and he mumbled,
“I’m just here for my stuff.”
Jeno’s eyes were sad, and he opened the door wider for him to come in. Seeing Haechan’s hesitation, he said
“Don’t worry… Jaemin isn't in here.”
Realizing it was the wrong thing to say, his eyes widened as Haechan pushed him slightly as he crossed into the house. Grabbing his wallet off the counter, he stuffed it into his back pocket.
Storming down the hallway, he opened his room’s door. He took his suitcase out of his closet, and began filling it with his things as Jeno trailed behind him.
“Hyuck, I don’t-”
“Only my friends can call me Hyuck, Jeno.”
His eyes threatened to spill when he said that, and when he zipped up his suitcase and looked at Jeno, he saw that he was about to cry too. Brushing past him, he stuffed his case with all of his toiletries and tried not to show how sad he was to be leaving the house. He had lived here with Jeno since they left high school, and leaving it felt… he felt empty. Was it so wrong to want to stay?
He shook the thought out of head and was once again filled with anger. Clutching his phone charger in his left hand and his suitcase handle in the right, he took a last glance at his home -no, house, it wasn’t home anymore- and left.
Taking a glance at the door, Jeno’s famous eyesmiles were nowhere in sight. There was a tear running down his face, and Haechan muttered,
“You have no right to cry.”
He evidently wasn’t out of ear’s reach, because Jeno let out an inhuman noise and shut the door. Climbing into the car and tossing his stuff into the passenger seat, he drove away. Disheartened and silent, Haechan went to work.
