Chapter 11: True colors and blood stains

"What are you doing here?" She said to Max. I had a feeling I was stepping into exactly what Max wanted to talk to me about.

"I can give you proof." He looked at her, he was pleading. "You have to come with me right now but I have proof. Everything I told you."

"Lucas..." I raised an eyebrow. There was no way he would have done it. He wouldn't have told her.

"Gene will tell you too. She was there." He pointed to me.

Max's eyes went to me then then went to my shoulder. "Is it true... did that happen to you..."

I looked to Lucas and then back to her. "Fuck you told her."

Max looked at the door with panic. "Look I will go with you but give me a minute."

"Lucas what is going on?" I said.

"Its bad... can you come to the junkyard with us? And can you that crow bar with you?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why?" I refused to entertain the thought that he was teasing.

"Its... its back."

My stomach dropped. Fear rushed through me. "Are you sure?"

"We don't have time for this" Max said. She then looked to me. "Can you distract Billy for a bit?"

I looked around. Completely confused by what was going on. But the look in their eyes was enough. "Max go back inside, Lucas meet her at the window. I'll come with you Max."

She nodded and we both headed inside.

"I am sure he is busy" I began. Giving her a look to carry on the conversation.

"No he is fine." She said as she let me in. when I came through the door way Billy gave me a stunned look.

"What are you doing here Curls?" He smiled and then his eyes flicked to Max.

"You said... you wanted to see me today" I said sheepishly. I would be happy to see Billy if it wasn't for the fact that Demogorgon was back. I couldn't appreciate looking at him when certain death was heading straight for me.

He smiled gently and turned to the tv. "I thought I would swing by tonight, pick you up and take you somewhere."

I shrugged. "I had time today." I looked around the house. "Susan really made this place look better." I said.

"Yeah I guess its okay." Billy said, his eyes flicked to Max. "Don't you have something else to do in this house?"

"Well I will be in my room." She shot a look over to Billy. "Fixing my skateboard."

"What happened to your skate board?" I asked.

"Ask him" She said right before flipping him off one more time.

Billy gave Max a dead look before looking back to me. I folded my arms and stared at him. "Tell me you didn't"

"I didn't" He shrugged. "My car did."

"Billy" I sighed. "Why did you break it"

"She was lying."

"She is thirteen and you are her step brother" I said. "She is going to lie."

"She was hanging out with that Sinclair kid."

"Lucas?" I raised an eyebrow. "What he do to you?"

"Nothing... but his whole friend group is trouble. I don't need that trouble with Max."

"So you are bullying her into compliance?" It was a good thing that I needed an excuse to leave soon. Because I couldn't believe Billy was doing this.
