MARTIN'S POV

"Alexa Granger and Martin Paul." I hear our names being announced.
What can possibly be more enticing than being paired with the only person who makes you feel alive? Not that I have any feelings for her or anything. She said she hates me, I'm just overwhelmed that now she'll get to know- what flavour hate actually is.

The spot lights flash on us. I catch her cerulean blue eyes getting filled with astonishment and horror. That's a good sign, after all if you are being paired with a gang member then horror is the only thing that should reflect from your soul. ALEX has no clue what deep shit she's falling into.

*Flashback*

A young man and his girlfriend were spending their day peacefully camping in the woods. The couple was madly in love with each other, for how they can't be as it was the day when the girl had confessed her love to her man. It was a bit abrupt though, for the boy had been chasing her for three years since he was a teen, then- his feelings were unrequited. When the boy turned 16, the girl had to leave for another city.

After 2 years, the girl had returned a week before and urged to meet the man. Lucky her, for the boy had yet not given up on her. Now here they were in the middle of woods, camping in the evening and spending some quality time together.

"Martin, my love, you know I have always had feelings for you. It's just that I never got a chance to express them in the right way. You were my best friend and I always loved you in a friendly way, I didn't realise when I developed feelings for you and when I did, it was too long to go back."

"Oh, Elsa! Don't be silly. The wait was worth it and for you I can even wait for a century more."

"Why do you love me so much?"

"Is there a reason why I shouldn't? You are sweet, kind, caring, a breath of fresh air, you make my heartbeat faster just with a glance and most importantly you are my best friend so you know all my good as well as worst parts and still do not judge me."

Tears threaten to fall from Elsa's eyes. Martin hugs her and pats her back. "Hey, there I forgot to mention you're a strong girl too so no teary eyes cuz for me you are just 'perfect'."

Elsa speaks between her sobs, "Martin... I love you.... so much... I really do. You are such a good human being, I cannot lie to you, I gotta tell you the truth.... Just remember- my feelings were never fake for you..."

"Elsa, you are making no sense right now."

The girl broke the hug, took the man's hand in hers and hesitantly spoke,
"When I moved to another city, I met a man, a bit older than me. We quickly became friends and I realised that the guy was much darker than he seemed.
That city was not like it appeared. It had gangsters, mafias, leaders and business tycoons who ruled the place. That man lured me by striking a deal that...."
