Yep. You guessed it. Jerome broke out of Arkham. Him along with almost every prisoner inside. Mass breakout, a perfect way to escape unharmed. And practically unhunted. I called Jeremiah, figuring that he needed to talk. He was calm all around. It was the day after he told me to start preparing.
"You need to get ready," was all he said. His voice sounded a little muffled, I must be on speaker.
"Plan A?" I asked.
"Yep," he hung up and I went out to buy the supplies. Once I got back to my room, I placed the animal cage by the kitchen and set up the police scanner. Once I was done with that, my phone started ringing.
"He killed our uncle," was all Jeremiah had to say.
"He'll be coming for me soon, probably tomorrow sometime. I'll be ready don't worry babe. How're you holding up?" There was silence on the other end, it worried me. "If you don't tell me, I will leave and come right for you, which you know could mess every-"
"Fine. I'm doing just fine." He cut me off. He sounded stable, his voice wasn't shaking.
"Ok then. I love you J," I told him, ready to get off of the phone.
"Love ya too," He hung up. I sighed and went to sleep. The next morning, I heard on the police scanner that Jerome was getting closer. There was a commotion about the Wayne boy running off to Jeremiah's school alone, and then a bomb. Tetch had paid them a visit. Jerome was one step closer, he would probably be here by this evening. I decided to spend the day out and about.
I wandered around, buying some clothes and groceries. When I got home, I heard nothing. I didn't want to spook him off, so I didn't look around, but I spotted him in my peripheral vision, sitting in a chair in the living room.
"Got any ice cream in there?" he asked me, as if he belonged there in that chair, in my home. I didn't turn, only continued to pull out the food. "I've always had a soft spot for Chunky Monkey." Something inside me stirred. I knew that was his favorite. You didn't know that silly, I DO. I flinched slightly, that was the first time Faith had ever spoken inside my head. Besides that, I stayed still as he made his way towards me.
Without turning I finally spoke, "I was wondering when you would come."
"Me? That's very flattering." he told me, still making his way over. He spun me around. "So tell me little miss proxy, where is he?" After he said that, he looked into my eyes. Something shifted in there, he recognized me.
"I'll never tell you," I said firmly. He was still staring at me stupidly. Faith was making a racket inside.
"F-Faith?" I rolled my eyes. He jerked back slightly, still staring me down.
"Y-Y-Yea," I said, mimicking his stutter. "Only, I'm not." I pulled out a knife, putting it on his throat. "You see, Jerome, I've spent all these years, deeeeeep down inside Faith." I spit out her name. I was backing him by his cage. "But then Jer set me free. So I'm in charge now. I'm Ecco." He swallowed hard, and I could see the pain in his eyes, it spurred me on. "See that behind you?" He looked down.
"Yea, I was wondering about that. You got, like a uh, big dog or something?" I shook my head, smiling.
"Nope, that's for you," I hit him in the head twice and he was down. I pulled out the phone Jeremiah had bought me and dialed his number.
"Hello?" Came his voice through the speaker.
"Ive got him," I hung up. Now came the hard part. Sure, in theory, this plan was perfect. Knock Jerome out, shove him in a cage, bring him to Jeremiah. In reality, it wasn't very well thought out. I was the only one J trusted with this task, so I had to shove Jerome's body into the cage, lift the cage, bring it downstairs, sneak it into my car, then bring it to the maze, get it out of the car, and then bring him inside.
